Game of the Week
Oklahoma 27, *Oklahoma State 21
In two of their last three matchups, the Cowboys have knocked Oklahoma out of the national championship hunt. In '03 the Sooners dismantled Oklahoma State 52-9, but this could be the rivalry's best battle in years.

Harmon Forecast NFL
Week 8 - Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004
*Buffalo 19 Arizona 16 - Can the Cardinals follow their shocking win over Seattle by embarrassing another top-10 defense? Nope -- the Bills are too strong against the run, Arizona's only (pretty weak) weapon. They last met in 1999.
*Dallas 20 Detroit 17 - We've been all kinds of wrong picking the Cowboys lately, but the Lions aren't nearly as good as their record, with the last-ranked offense and not much more pass defense. Dallas was a 38-7 winner last year.
*Denver 27 Atlanta 20 - After these clubs got their heads handed to them, this may be the game of the week. The Broncos, who are the better-balanced team on both sides of the ball, took their sixth in a row from the Falcons in '00.
Green Bay 17 *Washington 13 - So are the Packers back? We'll see: The Cowboys didn't have half the defense the Redskins do, and even though G.B. has taken the last two games in this series by a combined score of 67-9, that D will be key.
Indianapolis 26 *Kansas City 22 - To beat the Colts, you put the ball up, which the Chiefs don't do as well as they run -- though they did everything well against the Falcons last week. Indy knocked K.C. out of the playoffs last year, 38-31.
Jacksonville 21 *Houston 19 - No prediction is safe here, because the Texans' steadily improving passing game could give the Jaguars fits. After losing in Houston in '03, 24-20, Jacksonville handed the Texans their first shutout, 27-0.
*Minnesota 29 N.Y. Giants 21 - Another possible game of the week, with the Giants throwing more than usual against the Vikings' woeful pass defense while finding out what their own secondary is made of. N.Y. beat Minnesota 29-17 last year.
New England 21 *Pittsburgh 15 - The Steelers, the third of four straight big challenges for the Patriots -- after Seattle and N.Y. and before N.E. faces the Rams -- last met, and lost to, the Pats in '02. N.E.'s defensive line grows stronger.
*Philadelphia 25 Baltimore 13 - Unlike their offense, which can't do much but run, the Ravens' defense is finally coming around, but they don't have enough of it for the Eagles. The clubs battled once, seven years ago, and ended up tied.
*San Diego 23 Oakland 17 - With both looking up at Denver, a crucial game for the Chargers and Raiders, who've split their series the past two seasons. The key will be whether S.D.'s Vikings-like pass D can keep Oakland on the ground.
San Francisco 16 *Chicago 9 - What jumps out at you in this otherwise sorry pairing is the Bears' rapidly improving secondary, which should challenge the 49ers' solid air game and force them to run. S.F. blasted the Bears 49-7 last year.
*Seattle 24 Carolina 10 - The Seahawks need to stop the bleeding here, against the only team in an eight-week stretch that isn't either a division-mate or the Super Bowl champion. The Panthers won these clubs' only meeting, in '00.
*Tennessee 20 Cincinnati 19 - So are the Bengals back? It may be hard to tell against the salary-capped Titans, whose Steve McNair can't win all by himself. Two years ago Tennessee beat Cincy for the eighth time in their last nine games.
week 8 - Monday, Nov. 1, 2004
*N.Y. Jets 26 Miami 7 - Though they outgained the Jets four weeks ago, the Dolphins made more than enough mistakes to lose, 17-9. If N.Y. stays on the ground, it will win two from Miami for a remarkable fifth time in seven seasons.
Bye Week - Cleveland, New Orleans, St. Louis, Tampa Bay.
