  • Did ASA win their GOY or not?

I have seen it posted as Penn st and Minnesota. One covered and one didn't but on the asa site they aren't saying that they won the game but rather that there are 2 top games for next weekend.

I want someone to confirm it that they actually bought it and didn't just get it off another site.

    well thanks ahead of time.

they usually put out the real game and then a dumby game to throw people off trying to get it for free on the net...pretty pathetic but i guess they have nothing better to do with their time.

last year both won...given that they didn't mention it on their site my guess is it was penn state and they lost. last year their dummy game was also against illinois so that is my guess. plus you can bet your ass that if they had won they would be telling everybody about it.

thanks for the reply. you are right about releasing 2 different plays. I have a friend who talks with the ASA guys quite a bit and they said that last year they did not release two plays but both the plays did cover.

this year, I don't know. wisco kid says that it was minny but the ASA website should be proclaiming a great victory!!!

any extra help could really help here.

It is odd, from a relaible source I had it as Minn however I did see Penn State posted as well. However, I am shocked that they do not have it posted on their site

              ASA did win it.

Penn State was a 4* for them. Minnesota was their 10*.

thanks you two. what was really wierd is that I could have sworn that I saw minny posted as a 4* earlier and then released as a 10*.

I'll have to look at the sat service thread to confirm this.

                thanks for the reply.

Last year they gave out a phony big favorite. I seriously doubt based on their history they would ever use a 20 point favorite as their goy. I will find out for sure on friday one of the owners is on a local radio show where they do a weekly contest and go over last weeks picks.

I do agree with your reasoning. I know that they pick favs for the big games but at minny -18 to -20 I don't know. that is alot of points for a GOY.

what is the radio show? What station and when is it on?

                    thanks

Tin is correct, they did win it. Line movement after the release would also confirm it (as their goy releases do move the line). Penn st did not move on day of game, Minn shot up from 17 (my line right at release time), to as high as 20 shortly thereafter.

                          spike

I can understand that reasoning. They wanted to release it 15 minutes before game time to limit the movement. Did your line move locally or was it offshore. I know they put on their site last year that some local books weren't taking any action on the GOY or moving the line with some HUGE movements as soon as it got released.

Is this a gambling show that ASA puts on?

                              ASA

The pick was Minnesoa, a smashing winner. The reason for the confusion was because of a poster on this board who used the handle SlimJim. He not only posted the wrong play, he re-posted and insited he was correct. This is the third week in a row someone deliberatley posted a false play on a huge service release from a major service. Please take all future posts by SlimJim with a grain of salt. For what its worth, ASA is now 8-0 lifetime with its midwest game of the year.
