i agree bettors chat.noone is gonna say no thanks ill take 12 mill. instead of 24 mill.if anybody says they would r full of it.also i think its kinda crazy everyone making cracks at arod for how much money he makes is kinda crazy knowing damn well if any of us were in his shoes we d take all the money he is getting and maybe still want more. no matter what any of us say.i personally think its crazy what professional sports players make to play a game.but like bettors chat said if teams r willing to pay that price so be it.

I think in many cases it is the greedy agents who fuel the flames and make a player ask for more than he ordinarily would.
Lets face it; the difference between what one can do with $10 million a year in his lifetime for himself and family as opposed to $20 million a year isn't that great.
It is about ego and making as much as the next guy, and that is what the agent, the one who in a practical sense has a lot to gain, drums into the players' heads.
You won't find me paying the outrageous ticket prices to pay for this greed/stupidity.

        Savage,

        Tell that to Cecil Fielder..

        (j/k)

I think we are looking at the money from those who DONT have..well at least I dont and 10M seems more than enough to me. Just invest the principal and live off the interest on 5% bonds..lol

But once you get accustomed to the lifestyle it changes quickly. Look at Iverson, the guy came from nothing and he blows through cash like water.

Too bad that when you get more $$$ some if not most learn how to spend when they should learn how to manage..

ARod is a great INDIVIDUAL but OVERPAID player. How about instead of Pay-Rod as some call him, OVERPAID-Rod?

Wallstreet is right once a person attains a certain lifestyle its never enough. Look at people in Hollywood they make big money and always want more.

As for going into the Red Sox site and asking if they would trade for ARod i'm sure the majority would say they wouldn't. Now on the other hand go into the Yankees chat room and ask them if they would trade ARod for Ortiz. I bet the majority would be no there.

Time will tell as Ortiz may have had a career year as Tino Martinez did 1 year for the Yankees then sucked after that.

They are talking on my local sports radio outlet about how much Ortiz is a liability playing the field. That is why Boston picked up Meinkevich from Minny.
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

ortiz has put up big numbers the last couple of years, is a yankee killer and certainly this year has been a clutch playoff performer. he is very popular with the fans and also seems to be a great team guy in a very tight nit clubhouse. i don't think the red sox would trade him for rodriguez no way.

In my opinion Tino was a very good clutch player and Yanks won some championships with him in the lineup; as a Sox fan I sure as heck didn't want to see him batting against the sox or any other team for that matter(unless I bet the Yanks of course) with the game on the line.
I agree about Ortiz- he adds a lot of intangibles besides his on the field skills.

i'm sure people would say that you would be crazy to trade nomar straight up for cabrerra, but just look at the record of the red sox ever since orlando started playing shortstop.

I hated the trade of Nomar for Cabrera and to tell you the truth thought Sox season ws over at that point.

                            A little more on A-Rod...

Curt Schilling was on Jim Rome's radio show the day after his masterpiece in game 6. He ripped A-Rod a new one! He was speaking about the play where A-Rod swatted the ball out of Arroyo's mitt. Schill said A-Rod was "classless", "very stupid", he had "very little respect for him" even before that play, and said he is not a "true Yankee like Jeter and Posada". He said the entire team felt that way and he was ripping him the entire interview. When a class-act like Schill says it, ouch!

ouch is right. looks like he is getting it from all sides right now. however you pull that kind of stuff in the ALCS, whether in the heat of battle or not, you deserve it. especially if you aren't even man enouigh to admit it afterwards.

to me the guy is just a punk.
