LOL - Savage and I go back and forth about NC comp plays ... we do it to shoot the breeze and have a few laffs ... nothing malicious .... the fact that we do call shows that we respect the plays he gives.

Heleanth-in all honesty you are probably right; unless I have something better to do, I probably would call even if Coverboy does.
Why you ask:
Well, as you say, part of me does want to listen to see how he spins his ad day after day, even though on the other hand the speil is long and boring.
As Coverboy says, we just like to go back and forth with this, and as you know, all kidding aside, NC is better than just about anyone else there if he has a big play going.
Now pardon me, as I have to go a shrink to find out why I am "obsessed" with this;of course as psychiatrist bills are very high these days, I intend to play Northcoast's upcoming 5* at double what I normally would in order to finance my sessions.
Perhaps my masochism of being a Sox fan for 52 years is the reason I call Phil's comp. line in the first place-hey, maybe I don't need a shrink afterall.

With Phil rambling and rambling every day, I always wondered what his phone bill is. I have no idea how much it cost for a 800 number but if you are charged per minute, with the average call lasting 5 to 6 minutes, it has to be somewhat costly.
I do know that if you live in an area where he has a comp line, when dialing the 800 number, it will not go thru

In all honesty, Savage, I find you and Coverboy's interchanges very entertaining. I admit that I am a Phil Steele fan, mainly because he is not a scam. Over the years, you would have made money if you had played all his plays for the unit amount...

Coverboy, if (HUGE if) the Astros and Sox get to the series, I think the Sox will win in six or seven. If the Yankees play the Astros, I think the Yankees will win also. I think the American League representative will beat the Cards in six or seven also.

GL, should be a fun game to watch tonight! Hope they don't get rained out!

By the way, if you guys are truly baseball fans, pick up a book called "A Day in the Bleachers" by Arnold Hano. He was a free lance writer and this book is about the day that he took the subway to watch the first game of the 1954 World Series between the NY Giants and the Indians. It is the game where Willie Mays made "the catch" off Vic Wertz's line drive. What a great book!!! Any true fan will love it!!

If you think Phil Steele is bad you should call their 800# when his assistant is on the line. He is even more long winded and mentions the website 5 or 6 times, even including the www. part.

But while Kansas State is fielding its worst team in 14 years, the Huskers are actually on their way back up. In this matchup, they have the better offense, 5.8 yppl to 4.9 yppl, and the better defense, 4.4 yppl to 5.5 yppl. Most importantly, with K. Congrats to all who scored with me on the Premium Service last night with the 5-UNIT move on the Red Sox. I once again side with a Red Sox team that has showed plenty of depth, character and heart the past 2 nights, as they have fought off elimination with a pair of epic extra-inning classics that have featured 26 innings in just short of 11 hours. I am sure you have heard the fact that NO team in the history of the baseball postseason has ever forced a SEVENTH game after being in an 0-3 hole. That is one of the reasons why the BoSox are a slight underdog this evening, even though Curt Schilling is on the mound. Schilling talked in the wee-hours last night how his team has picked each other up in times of severe adveristy. Schilling depserately wants the chance tonight to pick up his own teammates. Tonight's situation is very similar to game three of the Divisional Series between the Yankees and Twins when Kevin Brown desperately wanted to make a positive contribution to a team he felt he had letdown after smashing his fist into a wall and going on the late season disabled list. I am sure Schilling is still upset about his game one effort at Yankee Stadium when he gave up SIX runs in the blink of an eye, re-aggravating a dislocated tendon surrounding his right ankle in the process. Schilling has steadily worked that ankle back into shape, and will be given the ball this evening. Schilling is a historian of the great game of baseball, and has talked repeatedly about the significance of this Red Sox/Yankees series. Since the start of 2003, including the postseason, these two teams are DEAD EVEN with a 25-25 mark in 50 overall clashes. It would be a crime for this series NOT to reach a 7th and deciding game. Getting back to Schilling who is a MONEY pitcher, he is 12-2 this season against WINNING teams. His Boston teammates are a staggering 17-4 after consecutive games where they stranded at least TEN runners on base. Even though Jon Lieber registered an 11-3 home record for the Yankees, and gave up only THREE hits in 7 brilliant innings in game two, his career ERA against the BoSox stands at 4.19 which is a bit on the lofty side.

Tonight we like New York (Leiber +$110) against Boston (Schilling). A name is just a name, and because that name is Schilling, the Sox are favored. The truth is that he was cleared yesterday to pitch today, but he is no where near completely healthy. The Yanks bombed him in Game 1 because of his ankle and they will get to him again today. He is carrying a 5.40 Era over his last three starts and the cardiac kids will finally be put to sleep for the winter. Leiber has been a surprise for the Yanks at 2-0 in the post season already after a nice 15-8 season. They are 20-9 when he makes a start and he is also 2-0 versus the Sox this season, including a win in Game 2 where he allowed three hits in seven innings. The Sox are not at home anymore, but they will be after tonight.

This line has sinced moved to NY -$130, but we always release our plays early and post our monitored line
