Phil Stool/Northcoast's comp. (Early Bird) is Virginia;Phil expects the line to rise during the week.
Be forewarned if you decide to call him today-it took Phil a whopping 5 minutes and 28 seconds of advertising, hype , bs,and bragging from the onset of the tape to get to the pick on the 800 number;sorry if it is less time on his local comp. numbers.

Comp (unrated): Yankees
Savage1, Since Steele's early bird play is now 6-1 it would seem that listening to his message is a small price to pay (i.e. free) for a longtime winning pick particularly when compared to the actual money some spent this weekend on overpriced hype services like Root and Big Al, both of whom had bad weekends. Besides, no one is forced to listen to Steele's spiel. On the other hand, many have had to put up with months of unwanted phone calls from boiler room operations---Feist, Root, Feiner, etc---and have nothing but losses to show for it. A guy akking on his own comp line which only the willing listen to is hardly the crime of the century yet you blather on day after day about it. You need to refocus.
One other point: it's nice to see Brassbell (obvious Steele shill) is gone. If you want to rip Steele, nail him for perhaps putting a stooge on this board to post phony plays (maybe Steele wasn't behind it and the guy acted on his own, I don't know).

Griswold-I play his early bird pick every week.
I still think his message is too long for his own good;perhaps HE should also refocus.
I would also venture to say that if you took 10 speech professors at random and asked them whether his daily speech was too long to be effective, at least 7 if not all would say it is.Last edited by savage1; 10-18-2004, 02:52 PM.

Updated record:
NCAA/Saturday 4-2/23-14, +31.35 Units YTD
NFL/Sunday 5-1/14-7, +22.6 Units YTD
NFLX/21-13-1, +16.7 Units YTD
Total/58-34-1, +70.65 Units/62%
Strange as it seems, the Rammies come home to face a 1-4 team that has injury problems at QB, WR, RB, DB and several players that hate the coach... and only lay 6 off a huge comeback win in Seattle???
Granted, the Rams have some problems of their own in the O-Line and defensively as well. Bulger has a bit of a problem in the shoulder... anyway, tell me what Brian Greise is still doing in the NFL? He wasn't good enough to play in Miami and Denver cast him loose some time ago. He can throw INT's with the best of them however. Giving him the start tonight with an injury to Simms and Brad Johnson now a 3rd team QB, I like the Rams to control to Bucs offense and mix it up enough to win this game by 18. The Rams strong home field will loom large against a team with no offensive threats in Tampa Bay. My only concern would be if Griese was so ineffective that Gruden put Johnson into the game... and I don't see that happening.
The Rams should have some problems against the decent Buccaneers D in the early going but by the 2nd half, Martz will have opened up the playbook enough to score a few TD's and cruise to the win and cover. Turnovers by Griese will play a role as well. My second 5* play of the season!
(The first was Cincy/Miami UNDER 39, an easy winner)
Good Luck in whatever you decide to play tonight.

Thanks for taking one ( an ear ache ) for the team.
IOU one
I'll post his comp play tomorrow. Will dial his 800 # and do The New York Times Crossword Puzzle, then return to the phone with time to spare. ( lol )
Will be in touch,

Coverboy-You could probably put down the phone, drive to Cleveland to get the pick from him directly and then drive home, and you would still be waiting for him to give the pick.
I wonder if Phil studied speech in school, and if so, I wonder what grades he received and what were the comments of his professors when he gave/wrote them(assuming they didn't fall asleep).:DLast edited by savage1; 10-18-2004, 03:26 PM.
