dr tom play is not minnesota. he only puts out a play from the big 12 only. so that pick you have there is not from a reliable source.

              • Stoney, Dr. Tom's play was Minn U. I have followed him before anyone knew who he was around 6 years ago. He does Big 12 and Big 10...However, all of his plays this year have been in the Big 12, until today. He touts himself as the Big 10/12 specialist. Hope that clears it up for all

                                Today's Pick: HAWAII +3.5 (CFB)
These are premium picks released exclusively to his clients and Plus10Club members. Picks are ranked 1* through 8*

                                HAWAII (2 - 2) at UTEP (3 - 2)
                                Week 7 Saturday, 10/16/2004 9:05 PM

PLAY 5* UNITS ON HAWAII +3.5

It should be noted from the start of this writeup that I set this line at Hawaii -2.5, so this play has significant value for me. That being said, this is an interesting WAC battle as Hawaii often struggles on its long road trips while UTEP is off a shocker for the ages, winning 24-21 at Fresno State. Hawaii (2-2 SU/ATS) has its great air-game clicking on all cylinders, averaging 37 points and 346 yards passing per game behind QB Timmy Chang (11 TDs, one INT). UTEP (3-2) has had a remarkable season under first-year coach Mike Price (2-1 SU/2-0 ATS at home). Johnnie Lee Higgins Jr. turned an under thrown pass into a 91-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, and UTEP made two late defensive stands to shock Fresno last week. The defense shut down Fresno's passing game, but allowed 195 yards rushing, 5 yards per carry.

Disturbingly, Hawaii is just 3-5 straight up, 1-7 against the spread its last 8 road games. In fact, their only road contest this season was a 41-29 loss at Rice. So why am I choosing Hawaii? Simply put...the wrong team is favored in this spot. The lines makers are in effect trying to trap the average bettor (the ones that feeds their pockets) as their perception will be based on UTEP'S dominance of New Mexico State and their suprise upset of Fresno (which interestingly was only their fourth loss at home in their last 35 tries). However, what is not considered in this line is the fact that neither the Aggies nor the Bulldogs have the type of passing attack that the Miners are going to see this week, with Hawaii. In fact, New Mexico State has no passing game whatsoever, while Fresno quarterback Paul Pinegar has really been struggling. In the Miners only two games against solid passing teams, they’ve allowed 41 and 47 points, to Arizona State and Boise respectively. And while Mike Price’s offense has shown some real signs of improvement, this team is not ready to trade points with any high powered offense. Let’s not forget that UTEP gained less than 300 total yards against Fresno.

Lets also not forget Hawaii's last two performances where they beat the shit out of Tulsa Tulsa and Nevada, scoring 92 points and gaining 1098 yards in the process. All in all Hawaii's offense and veteran QB should be able to move to the ball at-will on the Rebuilding Mustangs. The last time the Warriors visited El Paso, they won 31-6 and look for much of the same this week.

                                Forecast: Hawaii 34, UTEP 24
