Houston is a veteran team and should be able to bounce back after sustaining their first home defeat in 20 games on Sunday. Who better to have on the hill than 19-game winner Roy Oswalt and his 208:63 K/BB ratio. The Astros are 13-3 in Oswalt’s last 16 starts and he allowed only one earned run in 6 1/3rd innings in game #2. Oswalt has a spectacular 1.77 ERA in his last three starts. Meanwhile Atlanta is only 2-4 in the last six Jaret Wright starts and Wright is just 2-4 in 2004 in daytime starts. Oswalt was a dazzling 7-2 in road day starts this season. Atlanta is an amazing 0-6 in home playoff elimination games since 1997. The Astros are 8-1 the last three years with Oswalt on the road when the posted total is either 9 or 9 ½. Houston is 16-3 with Oswalt the last three years in the 2nd half of the season when facing an opponent whose hitters strike out seven or more times per game. FYI: The Braves are 7-1 ‘UNDER’ at home with Wright this year when the posted total is either 9 or 9 ½ including 1-0 in the post-season. Play on the Astros -129

Advantage Sports Monday NFL

A poor weekend for us with -2.5 Units on Saturday and a half-point boning on my 4* teaser last night. Did win the top play on OU and still well into the black with +Units this year, around +44 or so. I will update all records before we kick off on Thursday night. Reviewing previous posts will give my my record to date for those interested.

I know everyone wants to catch up/win more/bail out/have action on Monday night. Sometimes there is a better idea... stay on the couch with a significant other and enjoy the action with nothing riding on it. Of course, this is a BETTING WEBSITE, so you aren't reading this for my feedback on how to please your mate.

My opinions on this game:

If you follow the Packers with any regularity, I can tell you that the loss of Mike Flanigan is bigger than just losing a starting center. Mike was/is the heart and soul of that line, not just because of his signal calling and blocking schemes, but as a leader and the glue that held that line together. The reason Favre HAS a concussion is how the line broke down after Flanigan went out. Now, with the weakness of the Titan front four, will The Pack still be able to create daylight for Green and Davenport? Probably... but the GB passing game will suffer and the running game will take time off the clock, which is a good thing for Green Bay, as the defense is a mess. Grady Jackson is a big loss and the trade of McKenzie hurts the secondary more than one might imagine. McNair will have time to throw, even with his sternum/ankle/back/knee/toe/cranium problems, and the Tennessee O-Line will create daylight for Chris Brown in the Green Bay defensive front and take more time off the clock. The loss of Nedney is going to be huge as well down the road as well. Let's face it, BOTH teams need a win here... not just the Packers. Home field has not been kind to the Pack and visiting teams do not fear "The Lambeau Mystique" from years past. Yes, Favre is great in MNF and has done amazing things his whole career but you need 23 others plus special teams to hold up their end... it is still a team game, even with the greatness of Brett.
The Titans are SO beat up at WR but will have opportunities for Mason and Bennett with the porous GB secondary Without the Titan's OLB's and MLB's, Calmus and Sirmon playing, there will be extra pressure in run support and deep Cover Two for the Titan safeties and Schulters is out as well. I am passing on any official play tonight but since you didn't read this for laughs, I will offer up this teaser for shits and giggles:

Jeff Fisher is a GREAT coach in situations such as this and is OUTSTANDING against the spread in October as I have stated in previous writeups here. Fisher and his staff always seem to create a gameplan to stay in it when everything looks the bleakest for the team. Only the depth problems and injuries for the Titans keep me off a call for the cover +3, if not the outright win tonight. Running means ball control, which means time off the clock... I also am looking at recent Lambeau history of UNDERS.

Good Luck to all in whatever you decide to play... this one will be a "beer and pizza wager" for me on the teaser... YES... I too am unable to sit with my significant other and watch the game tonight without a small play to keep it interesting. Enjoy the game, we shall return to our winning ways this week!
