Minnesota at PHILADELPHIA (-3)

When I think about Minnesota playing outdoor football, it’s not in a positive fashion. I reflect back to that disastrous season-ending loss at Arizona last year. For some reason, that conference championship blowout loss at New York a few seasons back comes to mind, too.



I just don’t like this team on the road, or against Philadelphia. Three years ago, Minnesota was blasted 48-17 in Philly as the Birds have covered six of their last seven versus Minnesota.



Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss are playmakers no doubt. But I think overall, Minnesota’s offense, especially its depleted running game, will struggle against this Philly defense. I see Hugh Douglas and Derrick Burgess getting to Culpepper tonight. Linebacker Mark Simoneau is an underrated performer and cornerback Sheldon Brown played steady in the season-opening win over New York.



Offensively, Philly will need to step it up in comparison to its performance against the G-Men. And Minnesota has the kind of porous defense that can make average offenses look great. Remember, Minnesota allowed 85-year-old Vinny Testaverde to throw for 355 yards last week. And they sacked him just once.



Donovan McNabb, who threw for 330 yards and four scores last week, has evidently found the receiver stud he’s so desperately needed in Terrell Owens. T.O. loves the prime time lights and he’ll have a big game.



Andy Reid knows how to get his team ready on Monday night as Philadelphia has won and covered six of seven Monday nighters since he became head coach in 1999. Philadelphia has proved it on Monday night before while Minnesota still needs to demonstrate it knows how to win outdoor football games.



It won’t happen tonight as Philadelphia pulls away for a double-digit win.
