    Monday's Bitch Slap

    Feeling pretty confident about this one tonight, as I've watched Brett Favre destroy my beloved Bears for years, and the guy always plays well on national TV.

    Carolina was 7-1 in games decided by 3 points or less, with their only loss coming in the Super Bowl. Throw in an OT record of 4-1 record, so they know how to win close games. However, I think Carolina has some huge issues with their offensive line, with only one returning starter. Carolina's front 7 is probably the best in football, but their secondary is less than impressive, and you've seen what Favre does against weak secondaries. I think Carolina's luck in close games runs out.....Green Bay 23 Carolina 21

    Remember that 1-3 teams in pre-season (grb) are 5-16 ATS in their regular season openers the last 3 years...

    ...and 1-4 ATS yesterday for a 4-year total of 6-20 ATS.

    If playing their opener outside their division they are 0-11 ATS the last 3 years...

    ...and 0-3 ATS yesterday for a 4-year total of 0-14 ATS.


    Not crazy about this game either way, but wanted to pass that along.

      Hmmmm.......missed that one. Great info. What about defending SB teams or SB losers? I know the last two years the SB loser lost outright in their first game. GB had a tough preseason schedule (Seattle, NO, Jax, Tenn), and Tim Couch was pathetic. Also, if I remember correctly, Carolina was brutal as a favorite last year, right? You've got me 2nd thinking a bit, Dave.

        Don't wanna change your mind...it's a pass for me, but I do have a small play w/carolina on the ml -165, but just for action.

        Not crazy about the game. A Packers win wouldn't surprise me. Cats were horrible as faves last year and this is the Packs chance to play the NFC Championship game that never was.

        I can see why players would be on the Pack; I originally liked them.

        True about SB losing teams; but Carolina bucked a trend in pre-season regarding SB losing teams.

        This game is a very touch call. The Panthers are the same team, and perhaps better and hungrier. Undefeated in pre-season, they like to win...

        gl whatever you do, hard for me to see a strong play on either side...i'm keepin' it light...and I"m keepin' it on the ML...no way I lay 3 with carolina and/or TO the Packers in this one...

          yeah....I'm going to play small on the Pack and do a GB/Carol OVER teaser. Can't see Carolina winning by more than 9, and both teams should air it out as the Panthers have shut Ahman Green down in the past. One thing I've learned over the last 10 years, is never bet against Favre on a national televised game......have done it too many times and kick myself every Tuesday morning.

              Smart play, Hoosier. That 4th and 26 debacle has been weighing on the Packers DEF minds since January. They would like to make amends starting tonight. That's all we've heard up here this preseason. And with the questionable Carolina O-line they will have a chance to make a statement tonight. The Packer offense doesn't concern me too much - Couch was given alot of the preseason snaps and he was HORRIBLE to put it mildly. Warrior's preseason / reg season trend scares me a bit but I took GB +4 (bought the half). I'm looking at a 24-21 win or loss here.

                Little worried that there might be some rain in Carolina tonight, but I see both of these teams airing it out against suspect secondaries.

                Like the Pack getting 9 and both teams should move the ball pretty well. Like this even better than the Pack straight up as I could see Carolina winning by 3, or even 4 (24-20 type of game).
