  • BCV's....

Remember back when you first started betting, your pennies were precious, your interest was peaked, and you had absolutely no idea what you were doing?....well that's me. At first I bet on instinct (BIG mistake). Then I tried the get-rich-quick tactic of 8-12 team parlays with all favorites, but there was always an underdog who snuck in and spoiled the day. I tried surfing the net to get some stats to help me make an informed choice, but JHC there's alot of info out there. Good to know that the Wildcats are 12-4 SU when playing an underdog that's 6-8 on the road, the temp is under 40 degrees, the game is played east of the Mississippi River and coach wears his wife's favorite blue tie. Well the surfing did lead me here, which is a good thing....but there's alot of people with alot of opinions. So with a baby-step mentality, cause I'm slow, what's the best way to begin? Any help would be appreciated :D

    Mouse, welcome!

Follow some people on the forum for a week then pick one or two people you like and wager their big plays. If you surf around here a little you will find out who or what you do and don't like.

One of the first things I did when I found this place was look for the people whose post's had the most views. I figured that would be a good start. Turned out it was, as I caught on to Tony Soprano's baseball picks early on. I guess seeing his picks, everybody's picks, made me wonder how everyone came to such decisions. Everyone obviously began somewhere, but where? Do you start by picking a couple teams and following them to see if you notice patterns? If so, what patterns? What key stats stand out as bench marks? Do you use the various newsletters to validate your picks, help decide your picks, or are they no use what-so-ever? Using the advice of BCV's is obviously the best way to begin, but at some point, I want to be able to have a voice, and not just an ear.
