NET PROPHET SAT 9/11
CFB:
Southern Miss/Nebraska UNDER 45'
Colorado +3 over Washington State
BYU +3' over Stanford
Miami-OH -3' over Cincinnati
Toledo +3 over Kansas
Fresno State/Kansas State UNDER 47'
Georgia Tech +7 over Clemson
1-AA CFB:
as always, from 5 Dimes
Villanova +1 over Lehigh
Maine -2' over Northern Colorado
Southern Illinois +17' over Northern Illinois
the next two games are "go against" plays against local schools that are neck and neck being the worst Division 1 teams in America:
Norfolk State -9' over Savannah State
on paper Norfolk State ain't much better than Savannah, but this may be their only "winnable" game this year so I expect them to be ready. They've also got the advantage of a game under their belt, while Savannah State's game last week against Bethune Cookman in Jacksonville was postponed due to hurricane. If its possible for such a bad team to have a "lookahead", they've got a game against South Carolina State on deck and that'll be a bigger deal from an emotional standpoint since they one day hope to get some of SCSU's recruits. Norfolk won by 4 at Savannah LY (7-3 in what had to have been the most painful football game at any level of college competition all year) and I expect them to get the job done by 2 TD's or better here. In any case, I'm going to go against Savannah State until they show some signs of life or until the lines start to reflect how bad they really are.
RECOMMENDATION ONLY: Presbyterian -22' over Charleston Southern
This will be a welcome respite for the Blue Hose, who opened their season with two losses to a good NAIA team (Cumberland College) and a 1-AA powerhouse (Furman). CSU is 1-11 SU all time against Presby, with an average margin of defeat of 17+ ppg. Once again a situation where a team that can use all of the playing time they can get had their opening game postponed, and for a team that didn't have any sort of offensive continuity LY that's really going to suck. Bucs only scored more than 14 points twice LY and have such a porous run defense that teams basically don't bother trying to pass against them. CSU only scored 27 points *all year* on the road and lost all 5 of their away games by an average of 39+ ppg. Line is still too high to pull the trigger on an offical play, but I look for Presbyterian to win by 28+....

Today's Pick: TOLEDO (CFB)
This is a pick from Tom Stryker's premiuim newsletter. His plays are rated 3,4,5 *'s
3* KEY RELEASE – Saturday, September 11th
TOLEDO (+) over Kansas by 7 at 7 PM EST
Toledo’s young defensive line just couldn’t stop the lean, mean Minnesota ground machine last Saturday at the Dome! The Rockets literally got steamrolled by a Gopher rushing attack that chewed them up for 415 yards over land. After the 63-21 defeat, UT players were quick to admit that they got their cans kicked but vowed they would respond at Kansas. Well boys, welcome to Lawrence!
As I was writing up this game on my trusty MAC laptop, a good friend of mine in this business phoned me with a potential angle that needed some work. Little did I know that this “Super System” would produce a 60-16 ATS record for 78.9 percent and offer up two plays on the board for Saturday! One of them is obviously Toledo. The other will remain a mystery (for now).
It really doesn’t take much to find team trends that “go against” Kansas. For example, the Jayhawks are a wallet-breaking 8-22-1 ATS in a “win-lose” set. (Kansas off a SU win while its opponent is off a SU loss.) I could sit here and type them until my fingers went numb on the keyboard! Rock Chalk hasn’t been much on the gridiron lately. That’s no secret.
Heading into last week’s massacre in the Twin Cities, Toledo may have spent too much time reading their own pre-season press clippings instead of preparing for battle. The Rockets were picked by many analysts to finish first in the MAC West Division. Minnesota obviously got UT’s attention and I know the Rockets will respond. Here’s something I bet you did not know: Since 1998, Toledo has bounced back nicely coming off a SU loss posting a 14-5 SU and 13-5 ATS record in its next game including a perfect 8-0 SU and 7-0 ATS in that role if the Rockets were defeated by a non-conference foe last.
Quietly, coach Tom Amstutz has assisted in guiding Toledo to a tremendous 37-12 SU mark over the past four years. With plenty of offensive firepower at the skill positions, the Rockets should be able to ignite against Kansas’ improved but young defense. In a shootout, take Toledo plus the points.
