There is no doubt who is the more dominant pitcher in this match-up and who should win this match-up. The opposition has scored 8, 6, 2, 6, 6 and 4 total runs in Franklin's last 6 home starts. The opposition has scored 6, 8, 8, 10, 6, 2, 5, 3, 2, 6, 3, 6, 4 and 8 total runs in Franklin's last 14 starts. The opposition has scored 4 or less total runs in 9 of Schillings 13 road starts and 4 or less total runs in 19 of his 28 starts overall.

Seems like a cheap price to play Mulder at home -1.5 runs vs Elarton as Cleveland is 0-7 road behind Elarton as the opposition has scored 5 or more total runs in 5 of his 7 road starts. Oakland is 11-4 at home behind Mulder this season, 21-7 home behind him the last 1+ seasons and the A's are 51-18 at home behind Mulder the last 4+ seasons.

2*Oregon State +8 over Boise State
The only way I see Boise State covering this number is if Oregon State shows up flat off of last weeks disappointing 21-22 overtime loss at LSU in game they should have won. The fact is, the Beavers are the more talented team in the stronger conference with an experienced quarterback and the better defense getting points vs a lesser opponent with only 9 starters back, an un-experienced quarterback and the weaker defense. Forget the Broncos 65-7 home win last week vs the Vandels as Idaho is one of the worst teams (one of the worst defensive teams) in division one football having gone 6-30 their last 36 games over the last 3+ seasons and routinely get crushed by Boise State year in and year out. Boise State was 13-1 last season (vs weak opposition) with their only loss being a 24-26 loss at Oregon State vs probably their most competitive opponent last season. The Broncos are 0-9 straight-up their last 9 vs Pac 10 opponents and the line is way over inflated as our computer line calls for the Beavers to win outright by 1. Boise may get the revenge win but doubt they cover what is currently -8 vs what will be their toughest opponent this season. If Boise wins this game the Broncos could go undefeated vs a weak slate of WAC opponents barring a letdown along the way.

2*Florida State +2 over Miami-Florida
Critical opener for both with national championship implications on the line as one of these two Top 10 teams will open the season with a loss. Normally, in seasons past both have already played 4 or 5 games before this instate rivalry takes place with the loser falling in the polls and the winner rising in the polls. The scheduling may seem curious to most but to me it makes perfect sense as the loser will have the rest of the season to recover. Both are capable of running the table from here on out undefeated and this is obviously the toughest game on the schedule for both (Florida State home vs Florida in the season finale for both also a tough match-up). In my opinion, advantage for Florida State with all the intangibles being on the Seminoles side in this opener for both. Have to take the points with Florida State as a road underdog in their season opener playing with double revenge from last season having lost both games vs Miami and playing with meaningful revenge having lost 5 straight in the series vs the Hurricanes. A game both can afford to lose but a game the Seminoles should want more.
