      Minnesota vs Detroit

Minnesota will send Silva to the mound knowing he is 3-0 to the under his last 3 starts. Meanwhile Detroit will send Maroth to the mound with his record of 9-2 under his last 11 starts, and his team has gone under 8-3-1 last 12 overall and 17-6 under their last 23 home games. This series has gone 9-1 under their last 10 meetings this year. The play for tonight is UNDER!

      5* Minnesota/Detroit UNDER 9.5

          NorthCoast Major Moves

I got this off their comp. line. They come out with these plays on Friday that they feel are way off the lines they make for the games. They have done well over the years with these. Also, some of these plays end up being a star rated selection that they release for Saturday. They have alot this weekend which means they really love the card.

When Northcoast REALLY loves the card or if you hear Phil Steele saying that it's a " VERY DEEP CARD " ... then you better run for cover .

Have gotten their plays for the last 12 years .... rarely does well with a " Deep Card "

1* OREGON STATE +150 VS. BOISE ST - 10:05 EST

The Beavers invade the blue carpet of Boise after a heartbreaking defeat in OT against LSU. Many will believe that the Beavers will still be feeling sorry for themselves coming onto this one, but I beg to differ. Certainly they can handle a trip to Boise if they almost escaped Death Valley with a SU win. The line on this ones a complete and utter joke. Boise’s no longer the world-beaters they were a year ago. Sure they beat up on a hapless Idaho squad last week, but major components of their offense have departed. Their starting fresh faces at the QB and RB positions, and their big-time WR (Gilligan) has also left. OSU on the other hand has the experienced QB at their helm, and he did a splendid job completing half of his passes for 231 yards, 3 TD’s and 1 INT. RB Dwayne Wright more then held his own against the vaunted LSU defense rushing for 85 yards total and 5.0 YPC. Boise’s defense is the strength of their team, but their susceptible to getting beat where OSU’s offense excels. Their inexperienced up the middle on the line, and are missing two important players from last year’s solid secondary. Look for QB Anderson and TE Newton to have huge days once again relying on one another, and for RB Wright to really tear it up once the LB’s decide to double team Newton. WR Hass is good for some huge plays downfield when QB Anderson decides to go over the top, and expect the Beaver’s O-Line to do a great job of protecting their general. OSU’s defense did a great job containing an LSU offense with new faces at important positions, and I expect more of the same tonight. My numbers have OSU as a 1-2 point chalk in this spot, so getting any points in this contest is simply gravy. From what I’ve read in the press, HC Riley already has his men past the Death Valley debacle and focused on this game. Look for the Beavers to split their two-game road trip and head back to Corvallis 1-1 SU.

                      EASY 100* WINNERS
                      100* LOS ANGELES and CHISOX

Dodgers - Revenge is sweet, and not only does L.A. get to turn the tables on St. Louis today, avenging a sweep at Busch last week, but Kaz Ishii on his home mound will outduel Marquis in rousing fashion. This is a great spot for the Dodgers, expecially after San Diego proved it could best the Cardinals, when it won two of three at PETCO. The Dodgers are in a must-win situation and do not want to have to battle for a Wild Card.

White Sox - Love Garland today the same way I loved Lilly yesterday. See, this kid is much better than how he's been pitching, and coach Ozzie Guillen has put it to him that he has to produce in his last handful of outings this season. Garland posted a 6.14 ERA and a 2-3 record in August. And, he has a 7.36 ERA in two September appearances. He does have a victory in this month, but he needs to dominate, and tonight will be the night.
                      EASY 500* WINNER
                      500* FLORIDA STATE

I am telling you right now that this offense will be so spirited tonight it won't be funny. The nine returning Seminoles on offense have been waiting to play since last year's loss to Miami. They've been waiting to play since camp broke two months ago. They've been waiting to play since the game was put off four days.

Guys, this offense is going to roll in honor of the tragedy their coach has been dealing with.

Sound all corny? I don't think so. Remember last season when Brett Favre's dad died the night before Monday Night FB?

If there is one thing that Bobby Bowden is adamant about when it comes to his team, his staff, his sons, his program - IT IS ALL FAMILY!!!

And tonight you are going to see the overall better football team take charge, regardless of circumstances, and run roughshod over this Miami team.

Let me tell you something about this Miami team, although Brock Berlin is a stud, and I think could be productive at the next level, he doesn't have the needed support staff to keep up with Florida State's firepower.

Miami's secondary will struggle with Chris Rix pulling the trigger tonight, firing at freewill downfield all night.

100* WINNERS ON OREGON STATE AND UNDER

Oregon State is the exact team you saw last week in Louisiana against LSU.

And you will see the Beavers are real deal tonight when they go into Boise on the Blue Turf and keep this one tight with a stellar defensive effort.

I know that a game like last week, the way it unfolded and ended, can be a huge letdown, but that was no fluke.

You don't go to Baton Rouge and push the Tigers - the defending National Champs - the way Oregon State did and not be ready to compete for the season.

I honestly thought the Beavers would miss Steven Jackson, and at times they will, but Derek Anderson has the capability of turning this team into a huge air attack team.

Tonight we will see signs of this, but not a lot, since both teams know the key to victory is behind solid defense. Thus, the under.

Look for Oregon State to come out emotionally charged on defense, and Boise to do the same.

This one stays close and under.

Alright, I hate to lose out of 15,000 like that. I just do. Its one of those things I just can't stand. You get yourself on the right side of a game, you handicap the game and have a team winning the game outright, only to watch them turn it over 3 times inside the 20 and still end up with a push. Lets move forward.

Miami Hurricanes are the right side of this game. They just are. They are 13-2 ATS first line game of the year. They are also 137-0 when they score 30 points or more. Think about that for a second. 137-0.

Both of these teams lost some players on the defensive side of the football and when all is said and done, this is going to be another Miami win.

                      Play on Miami

OK, Oregon State showed me something in that game last week at LSU. This is a good football team. This line is climbing like the national deficit. Opened 5 and has moved to 7 1/2 in some places. Although Boise has some unbelievable home numbers, the one glaring number that I see is this. They are 0-9 SU against Pac 10 teams. Until this team steps up and beats the big boys, I will call for Oregon State to go up here and win this game outright.

                      Play on Oregon State

                      BASEBALL

Just ride the Cardinals and Marquis tonight. They just bombed Ishii in St.Louis and they will bomb him here. Until somebody crushes Marquis, you ride him.

Marquis hasn't lost since May 26, posting an 11-0 mark over a span of 17 starts. He owned the Dodgers last Saturday, holding them to just eight hits over seven scoreless frames. Marquis struck out nine and didn't walk anyone in the winning effort.

He is actually riding a 17 1/3 inning scoreless streak heading into tonight's contest. He is laying 125 here? That is like stealing.

                      Play on St.Louis

Royals are playing some good baseball right now. You add the fact the D'rays have lost 11 in a row and Hendrickson is 0-6 with an era of close to 9 his last 6 starts and I will go against him again here.

                      Play on KC

                      Have a great Friday

150,000* BATTLE OF FLORIDA ABSOLUTE LOCK
Your 150,000* winner here is on Florida State!

No wide rights today! The Miami reign of the Noles is going to end right here and in easy fashion.

Miami will return 7 offensive starters and 4 defensive starters, Florida State will return 9 on offense and also 4 on defense.

Florida State is about to get back to the National Championship type form this season after losing 12 games over the past 3 years. Bobby Bowden and the coaches have been recruiting like nuts and are about to beat up on Miami in this spot.

The Canes are on the downward spiral that hurt FSU over those past few years. Miami showed chinks in their armor towards the latter stages of last season and lost a ton of key players to the draft.

Both starting quarterbacks will return, Brock Berlin for Miami and Chris Rix for Florida State. Neither has achieved what was expected of them but Rix has a better upside in my opinion and does look excellent every now and then. Berlin meanwhile does not impress me very much and will be beaten up in a major way by a Florida State squad which is out for revenge.

When all is said and done the Noles will be in the national championship hunt and the Canes will lose at least 3 games this season!
100,000* NEAR-PICK EM LOCK Plus Another Winner
                      Your winners here are on:

                      1. 100,000* D-Backs
                      2. 50,000* Blue Jays

                      1. Revenge, revenge, revenge! I hate backing this atrocious Diamondbacks squad but they have been hitting the ball a little bit better actually scoring some runs in the 3 games in LA and to get the Unit in revenge at a pick against Brett Tomko is enough for me.

Tomko beat Johnson last week in SF. After falling behind 1-0 the Giants scored a pair in the 7th and the 8th in the 4-1 win. This Arizona squad has a penchant for blowing Johnson's starts but one of these days they will punch a few across and in revenge here this could be the day they finally break through.

No downside here in the Unit even if I am backing a terrible Arizona team.

                      2. Texas has been terrible over the past month. They have completely faded away and have no shot anymore at the playoffs.

The Jays meanwhile have been playing much better and played spoiler in Anaheim over the past few days. They even got a quality outing from Justin Miller who completely shut down an awesome Angels lineup.

Carlos Delgado and the boys have some bats and have turned it around some. To be getting a decent amount of money with a professional pitcher in Miguel Batista against a struggling Rangers squad is enough for me even if it is against a pretty good hurler in Ryan Drese.

                      Colorado w/Estes over San Diego
                      Minnesota w/Silva over Detroit

Cincy's Hancock is 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA in five appearances, including four starts, at GA Ballpark in Cincy this year after being traded from Philly. The Int'l League Pitcher of the Year, Hendrickson, just picked up his first win after going seven starts without one. He is 0-3 with a 9.75 ERA in three road starts this season. Reds in a rout.

Lawrence is 0-2 in three starts against the Rockies this year. He suffered a 5-2 home loss to Colorado on Sunday, giving up three earned runs over seven innings. He has lost two straight starts and five of seven decisions overall. Estes is 7-2 at home this year. All Rockies tonight.

Maroth has struggled of late, dropping three straight starts. Maroth is 6-6 with a 3.93 ERA in 13 career starts against the Twins. Guzman is 11/23 career with a homer against Maroth. All Twins tonight.

                      Miami -1.5 over Florida State

This is a Hurricanes team that is 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS against the Seminoles the past three years, and Miami is 13-1 their last 14 home games. Wow.

The 'Canes return seven starters on offense, including seasoned QB Berlin and RB Gore. Those two should be enough to get the 'Canes over the top as Miami wins comfortably at home today.

                      500* Philadelphia w/Myers 500* Minnesota w/Silva
Well, well, well, the Phillies are fresh off a 3 game sweep of Atlanta and appear to have found their stroke along the way.

The Mets just snapped an 11 game slide, but I can't back them tonight even with Al Leiter on the mound. Leiter just got racked by the Phils, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings of work at Citizens Bank Ballpark. Yes, Leiter is 4-1 with a 2.17 ERA at Shea, but the Mets were unable to handle Brett Myers last time out, as Myers went 7 strong with just 2 runs allowed. New York is just having too much trouble at the plate to think they can support Leiter's cause.

The Phillies still feel they have a shot at the Wild Card, so let's ride the Fightin's in this one.

                      500* Philadelphia w/Myers

Detroit just allowed 26 runs to the Royals in game one of their twin bill yesterday, and tonight they are involved in a near pick'em game with the division leading Twins!?!

Minny has won 7 of 9, and they did have the day off yesterday. The Tigers had to play two at home yesterday, and will hope that Mike Maroth's 5-1 mark at home will hold them in this one tonight. I just don't think so. Minnesota holds a decided edge in this series since 2002 going 37-15 against the Tigers, winning 15 of 23 at Comerica. Carlos Silva has been thrown solid ball over his last 3 allowing just 5 runs in 17 innings of work.

This line is way out of whack. Twins get the win.

                      500* Minnesota w/Silva
                      1000* Miami-Florida 1000* Boise State
Right out of the box, the Seminoles and the Hurricanes do battle.

The 'Canes have been in control of this rivalry, taking the last 5 meetings, including a bowl meeting last year 16-14 as a 2-point dog. Still have to side with Miami tonight, as the Hurricanes will have the home field edge working in their favor. Miami has won 28 of their last 29 games at the Orange Bowl, including both meetings with the Sems, so it's highly unlikely the Seminoles will walk away with the outright.

State has the added burden of dealing with the Bowden family death on their side, a tragedy that I'm sure will have Bobby Bowden's focus a little off.

It's Rix versus Berlin, and you just know that Rix is more likely to crack before Berlin does, especially in Miami. Have to lay the small number with the host tonight as I expect the 'Canes to come away with the win and cover.

                      1000* Miami-Florida

Late night action on the blue turf, as Boise State hosts their biggest game in quite some time. The Broncos have had this one circled, as Oregon State won a tight 26-24 game as a 5 1/2 point home favorite last year in Corvallis.

Going to be very tough for Mike Riley's Beavers to get up for their second straight roadie after nearly taking down LSU in hostile Baton Rouge last Saturday night. The public is moving this line like crazy, but I think the emotional letdown of having your kicker miss 3 extra-points, plus the added revenge motive make the Broncos the play tonight.

Boise State owns one of the strongest homefield edges in all of college football, and they have covered 15 of their last 21 as a home fav, including last week's 65-7 thumping of Idaho.

Yes, Oregon State is a notch above the Vandals, and Ryan Dinwiddie is no longing call the signals, but the negatives for the Beavers are too overwhelming to place a wager on tonight.

                      Boise State gets it done!

                      1000* Boise State
