Here's a test to show just how difficult it is to pick a Winning Percentage ATS if picking every game on the board.

If you've got the guts to swallow your pride a bit, jump in HOT SHOT!

Go ahead, pick every NFL game on the board and see if you can beat the John Madden game; or a coin flip; or a dartboard.

You get the picture.

Here are the lines, and here's the NFL Week 1 scores according to the 2005 John Madden Electronic Football Game by EA Sports.


1.) All default settings were used.

2.) The game was played 1 time.

3.) The Baltimore Game is a PASS, so don't bother picking it.

4.) Do not bet on these games.

5.) Prepare to set your ego aside.

This is a very interesting angle. I would like to see the out come of games played say 10 times, you may be able to find a whole in the line with this angle, considering these are all being played from the previous years stats.

I don't think weather is as big of a factor on the game.

You would need a minimum of 100 games to get an accurate "line" according the madden programming.

Ten games played might have Team A winning 8 of them by an average of 8 or 9 ppg, while the "next" ten games would have team A getting a split 5-5 with an average win of perhaps minus 1 or 2.

In that 20 game span team A would've won 13 games, but in the next 20 they might win 17; or only 10.

100 games would be neccessary, but still, it is only for fun and out of sheer curiousity.

The games are not programmed to always maintain the same score. The individual players are programmed for speed, agility, strength, etc.

The game is played 1 time, and ALL DEFAULT settings are used.

Also be interesting to see how they come out as far as totals are concerned. It'd be 1-0 after last night. I have absolutely nothing planned tonight, so I may try playing like 50 Madden sims and post the results and average score. My wife will roll her eyes at me, but what the hell, right?

Looks like Madden got pounded 4-10-2, I was 9-7 with the spreads I used in my football pool, not bad, but still a loser, winner was 12-4
