Things ended on a small downer with NFL Preseason last night going 1-2, -2.3 Units but still showing substantial positive units for the final result. A winner with the opinion only on the Wazzu last night at UNM. I turned that mess off in the 4th thinking they were going down, only to wake up to a surprise finish.

NFL Final Preseason Result/21-12-1, +16.9 Units
        YTD NCAA 3-2, +1.4 Units

Not much time for writeups today with no early plays and afternoon kickoffs fast approaching... let's get to it:

        4* Colorado State +5
        4* Minnesota/Toledo OVER 62
        3* Oklahoma State +1
        3* Misssissippi State -6

The Rams of CSU always show up for this instate rivalry and usually win SU. There has been some fan ugliness at these games the last few years because of the intense nature of this game. CU is obviously coming off a troubling offseason with off the field issues but overall, I feel that CSU is just the better team getting points. On a neutral field, Invesco@Mile High, I will take a program on the way up vs. a team in turmoil.

Tulane never travels well and playing outside on grass has never been their strong suit. I like a program filled with optimism vs. a rebuilding proram that is better in the confines of the Superdome on turf. Sylvester Croom starts a new era with a W in his opener, by 10+ points.

Oklahoma State has never done much defensively against the pass and finished 86th in the nation last year defending it. That does play into UCLA's strength in the passing game with Perry and Marcedes Lewis excellent downfield threats. UCLA strikes me as being a program with many problems in depth, talent and off field issues. I am able to watch this team fairly closely living in SoCal and really don't know what the reasoning is behind the optimism this year. OSU should be able to run on the Bruins easily and control the game. I see a SU win by OSU here.

UM and Toledo are two programs that have exceptionally proficient offenses and limited abilities to stop the pass. While the total has climbed from 58 to 63, I normally would hesitate to jump on after a large line move like that but this game could end closer to 90 than 60. I will still play it at 63 and would go as high as 66 here comfortably.
Good Luck in whatever you play tonight. As an aside commentary, Miami came ready to play last night in New Orleans and for that I will give them credit... but calling the game a "sucker bet" is an asinine comment and has nothing to do with the reality of why the Saints were a solid selection, win lose or push. JMHO.

            Oregon State at LSU

Nick Saban of the defending national champ home team is a
defensive-minded head coach, who is breaking in a new QB,
against the second-best 2003 defense in the Pac 10 which
no longer has 30-touch per game RB Steven Jackson to move
the chains for them. Where are the points gonna come from?
            LSU, 24-9.
