  • Is Something Fishy Here?

Today I received a complimentary issue of Northcoast's Power Sweep Preview College Issue-no big deal.
What is a big deal is enclosed with the issue were two inserts from RoyalSports(www.BetRoyal.com) with a big ad telling me that if I sign up with them, I receive EVERY one of Phil Steele's Executive Club valued at $3500, which I assume encompasses every play given out during the season in college and NFL.
The insert also displays every one of Northcoast's other clubs (which are encompassed by the Executive Club) showing the price of each one and stating that they are also free.
Then it says you get his PowerSweep Newsletter, a $135 value, also for free.
If that were not enough, then you are promised a 35% signup bonus for signing up with these guys.
First of all, I am suspicious and would not be interested in any case, because all of Phil's PowerSweep picks and Late phones are posted for nothing in this forum.
That being said, does anyone think Phil is getting into bed with these guys?
Also, does anyone know how reliable is RoyalSports?
I am even wondering whether possibly RoyalSports did this without Phil's approval.
Somehow, as much as I kid about Phil Steele, a deal like this seems out of character, as he seems to be pretty ethical and honest.
I am curious what everyone thinks about this and whether you also received the same offer.

Who knows, but I wouldn't play with Royal Sports which also owns Gamblers Avenue. Those books have been slow paying players for some time and have financial problems.

BC-That makes me even more suspicious as to this alleged promotion. I dont think Phil would go along with such a deal if the sportsbook was a fly-by-night and/or unreliable.

Savage- To the best of my knowledge the only book NC has been affiliated with is Millennium.

I did receive a freebie "betting guide" from them in my NC newsletter (for which I am a subscriber).

I checked the NC website and can find nothing referencing what you are referring.

I also checked some mag's I have on offshore betting and I can't even find Betroyal listed. Bettorschat has a listing also of books on this site that you might look at also to see.

        Smells to me also.

          I received the same info.
I wasn't surprised at all. Servivces are getting large incentives
for signing their members at Sportsbooks.
I have been with both GA and Royal and I
would run , not walk, from both.

Phil Steele isn't worth taking the risk.
If they offer Ty Gasbag you might want to jump at the offer.LOL

          Good Luck.

LLWM-There is a phone number listed for RoyalSports 800-9745536.
However, I am not going to inquire any further;I have a feeling Phil will say something about this once he finds out about it, and something tells me his is going to be pissed off.
ps perhaps I am wrong and Phil actually endorsed it.

Yeah I'd stay away big time from this book ... nothing but trouble
Careful on just going somewhere with incentives ..
A really good site for book reviews is www.****************.com

                  Millennium

A buddy of mine signed up with them last year with the free Northcoast newsletter subscription bonus if he made a deposit. Lo and behold, he makes his deposit, calls Millennium, and they tell him they could'nt afford to send him a subscription because it was too costly. At about week three of the season, I started getting the newsletter for free. And I did'nt make a deposit. I told my buddy about it, and boy was he steamed.

                    maxell,

Did your friend contact northcoast? He should have and he should have gotten the newsletter for free if that's what Millenium offered. If not then that was a screw job by them.

My friend is the type of guy that will let things drop, but he will argue with me till the death. He ended up buying the newsletter weekly. BTW, the freebie I received always came to me in the Saturday mail, a couple ot times on Monday. But what do you expect for free?

                        Something is indeed fishy here.
I was curious about this offer(not surprising as I am a cat lover), and I decided to call these guys up to find out more about the alleged offer about a 35% signup bonus AND free Executive service from NorthCoast valued at $3500.
Anyways, a gentleman answer the phone(more appropriately a con artist) and I asked whether offers were good as stated.
As I expected, there is more than meets the eye here.
You do NOT get both bonuses- what you get for a "measly" $10000 to open your account is the Executive Service and NO extra 35% bonus.
When I asked about the 35% bonus stated on second page of ad, I was told the $3500 free service represented the 35% bonus).
I then asked if I chose NOT to take the Executive Service, could I get $3500 as a sign up bonus (35%) instead.
                        I was told NO!.
Then the guy started asking me how much I could/send, and then perhaps he could give me a cash bonus WITHOUT the Executive Service.
I said I might be interested in sending a couple of thousand down there;he responded with 15% bonus.
I then told him I wanted think about things and hung up.
I am shocked that Phil Steele, who prides himself on his honesty and straight shooting approach, would hook himself up with a Service which gives a totally false and misleading impression if you simply read the insert sent with the sample copy of PowerSweep.
Now excuse me folks as I have to go send (Not so) Royal Sports my $10000. Yeah Right.

I am not touting my previous post, but on the other hand I want this to stay forward so that some of newbies can see some of the trickery out there to try to get your money.

Northcoast's relationship is with Millennium Sports

Maybe someone's using Northcoast's name without their knowledge ?

It's a scam all right no doubt.

I just called NorthCoast and was told the person who handles these matters will not be in until Monday.
If there were a line on such a thing, I would make it -300 that Phil didn't give these guys permission or at least say he didn't to run the promo as stated in the ad enclosed with his sample newsletter.
Stay tuned to the "thrilling" conclusion of this next week.:D
