FROM DR BOB
Boston University (+15 ½) 65 STANFORD 76
Boston University has 5 returning starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament team and while winning the weak America East conference is not much to brag about, the Terriers appear to have the talent to play competitively with a Stanford team looking for an identity after losing two first round NBA draft picks in Casey Jacobsen and Curtis Borchardt. Mike Montgomery does have some decent talent on hand and Stanford has a decent shot at returning to the NCAA Tournament this year (I’d rank them on the NCAA/NIT bubble), but they don’t look to be a dominating team early in the season. My pre-season ratings favor Stanford by just 11 ½ points in this game, so I’ll lean with Boston U on the basis of line value.
