Picking Up the Slack
I was posting some stuff for a while, and then I noticed that the services I had to offer were being picked up by Fox and Thick for the most part (among others). Whenever those guys aren't around or I don't see the info posted, you can count on me to pick up the slack (that way we have no holes!). I asked about Alatex only cause I don't have access to those plays, but if someone picks up a day here and there I will buy on other days (maybe when 20*'s are offered to maximize value). Thanks to all posters for their commitment to sharing!

PS: Spark, The Chairman is my all time favorite, and that is a rarity in this part of the country! (I am transplanted though so Frank came with me from South Fla). Keep up the great work!OBE

Guaranteed Pick: Big Al Mcmordie
Game: Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers Aug 19 2004 10:10PM
Prediction: Atlanta Braves
Reason: At 10:10 pm, our selection is on the Atlanta Braves with Russ Ortiz over the Dodgers and Kaz Ishii. Last night, Atlanta and the Dodgers had polar opposite 9th innings. Atlanta came back with 2 runs in the final frame to get by San Diego, while Eric Gagne gave up 4 runs to enable Florida to shock the Dodgers. With Gagne pitching more like Clark Kent than Superman, the Dodgers' biggest advantage is eroding. And tonight, they'll have the additional problem of trying to solve Braves' righty Russ Ortiz, who has won 7 straight decisions. Ortiz is also 9-2 at night this year with a 2.63 ERA, while Ishii has been awful under the lights (5.17 ERA), as well as in his last 3 starts (all Dodger losses). Take Atlanta in this Nationally Televised game on TBS. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my NFL Winner tonight on Fox TV that's out of a system that's NEVER LOST in 15 years.....CUZ I'M RICK JAMES BBYYAATTTCCCHHH!!! Show Charlie Murphy ya titties!!

Atlanta sends Russ Ortiz to the mound tonite and LA will send Kaz Ishii. LA is 26-12 their last 38 home games but you have to look a little further into this game to find the edge. Atlanta has won 19 of it's last 23 road games. Ortiz is 5-0 (2.06 era) in his last 6 road starts and Atlanta is 7-2 his last 9 road outings. While Ishii is 0-1 (18.56 era) in his last 2 at home. With Atalnta riding the momentum here we will play the visitor in this situation.
4* ATLANTA
As Always Good Luck!

Thursday NFL Preseason
Greetings!
We enter Week 2 with a record of 8-2/+16.5 Units from Week 1, all totals selections.
Tonight's game between the NY Giants at Carolina has some interesting sidelights to the story. Eli Manning will start for NY and then Kurt Warner will take over.
NY has serious problems in the offensive line and the weaknesses were exposed in last week's game against Kansas City, where even though NY won a 34-24 shootout against Kansas City's weak D, the Chiefs were able to expose the unsettled situation with the offensive line's cohesiveness and porous pass blocking. Manning will have limited success against what is quite possibly the best defensive front in Carolina. Same with an immobile Kurt Warner. Ron Dayne will not have the holes he ran through last week as well.
On the flip side, Carolina struggled to move the ball against a revamping team in flux, the Washington Redskins. The game stats showed two teams with limited offensive firepower struggling to move the ball on each other with very few offensive weapons on either side of the ball. The score was no reflection of the ineptitude both offenses showed, with a 9% third down conversion percentage COMBINED in the game which also featured 20 punts. We predicted an UNDER play on that game, which lost yet the game stats in review would support my play.
Tom Coughlin will improve the #18 defense against the run and #25 against the pass last year, long before the offense shows any major improvement in New York. With Shockey out and big holes offensively tonight, I am calling for this game to falll UNDER 35 points, contrary to popular opinion. I am looking at a total closer to 27 in my analysis.
3* UNDER 35 tonight... Good Luck in whatever you play tonight!

Ben Burns:
Game: New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins Aug 19 2004 8:10PM
Prediction: New York Yankees
Reason: El Duque has been very sharp since being activated from the disabled list. He is 3-0 with a 1.24 ERA in his last five starts and 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA overall. Silva was roughed up for six hits and six runs in just two innings in his last start. It was Silva's fifth straight start in which he allowed more hits than innings pitched.
Look for Silva to get outpitched by Hernandez this evening as the visitors avoid the sweep.

Play On: OVER
How do not take the Dodgers at home as an Underdog? Well we probably would, except we like the OVER in this contest. In this battle both pitchers have control problems that can lead to runs being scored.
Braves hurler Ortiz has a long history of going OVER the total with a 39-20 OVER mark as a road favorite of -110 or higher since 1997. (Team's Record) He is also 35-15 70% OVER in road games when the total is 7 to 8.5 since 1997. (Team's Record)
Dodgers starter Ishii ERA has been steadily creeping up to its present 4.64. You can easily track the reason for this occurance.
74 Walks 65 strikeouts.
Look for both teams to take advantage of these pitchers and go OVER the number in LA-LA land tonight

8:05pm ET / DETROIT with LEDEZMA @ CHICAGO WHITE SOX with GARLAND
**FREE** Play on: DETROIT with LEDEZMA +130
Yes, the White Sox are finally showing a little sign of life... however, that’s not going to stop us from investing money against them. Fact is, John Garland gets the starting picthing nod for Chicago and seldom does he give up less then five runs a game. At home, Garland is 3-5 with a 5.27 ERA and over his past three games his ERA is 5.40. Consistency works... whether it's BAD, or good. He can usually be counted on to allow about five runs a game. Tigers will respond with Wilfredo Ledezma, who makes just his fourth start of the campaign. As a starter, in 13.2 innings, he’s allowed just seven hits and three earned runs for an ERA of 1.98. That includes a five inning stint against the Rangers in his second start of the year in which Ledezma limited Texas to just two hits and one earned run. Additionally, Ledezma is a southpaw and the White Sox are just 13-25 against lefties this year. Grab the great DOG price with the Tigers!

NY Giants at Carolina Panthers 8:00 PM ET
Carolina Panthers –3.5 –110 (2 Units)
Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said Tuesday the first team will play the entire first half of Thursday night’s preseason game against the New York Giants. That is big especially with the circumstances heading into this game against the Giants. This will be a very emotional and special game for the Panthers. It’s the Panthers first game at Bank of America Stadium since their appearance in last years Super Bowl. Thursday's primetime contest against the Giants offers a chance for the Panthers to show that 2003 was not a fluke, even if it is a preseason game.
Coach Tom Coughlin announced Eli Manning will start at quarterback, with Kurt Warner taking over in the second quarter and playing deep into the third. Manning, who completed 7 of 13 passes for 91 yards in his debut against the Chiefs, will now face one of the best defenses in the league and he will see them the entire time he is on the field. The Panthers ranked second in the NFL in team defense last season and led the league in sacks per pass play. The Giants, meanwhile, had one of the league's worst offensive lines. "It's going to be a task to keep them off of him," said the Giants' starting left tackle, Luke Petitgout, who is the only member of the offensive line returning at the same position this season. The unit was rebuilt in the offseason and tinkered with in training camp, and struggled at times in last week's preseason-opening victory over Kansas City. The group will be without one starter at Carolina. Left guard Barry Stokes has a gluteal strain he suffered against Kansas City and will be replaced by second-year pro Wayne Lucier.
On Monday, Coughlin stopped a sluggish practice, assembled the team before him and, in front of hundreds of fans, told the Giants they "couldn't beat a high school team." His shouts and curses could be heard 40 yards away as Coughlin reminded the players that they might soon be embarrassed, "since we're going to be on national TV in two days." Apparently they aren’t where they need to be. Another very significant injury will hurt the Giants. Bill Gramatica, the first-string place-kicker will most likely sit this one out due to back spasms. If Gramatica can't make it, untested Todd France will get the call. France, a product of the University of Toledo, was in the Vikings camp the last two years. Gramatica handled all the field goals (he made both attempts) and extra points in the preseason opener against the Chiefs.
With their win last week against the Redskins, Carolina is now on a 10-1 ATS run against the NFC. They are also 5-0-1 ATS off a dog win. New York tens to fall off after a win as they are 1-10 ATS off a win and 4-22 ATS when their winning percentage is .333 or better. While it doesn’t mean a whole lot, it’s interesting to note that the Giants have never beaten the Panthers, losing three times in the preseason and twice in the regular season.
