New Bears head coach Lovie Smith makes his debut, and goes against the team he was defensive coordinator for the last three years.
RB Anthony Thomas (abdominal) won't play.
Offensive line nicked up: As a precautionary measure, offensive tackle John Tait usually practices once a day because of a sore groin. Fellow linemen Rex Tucker and Aaron Gibson also let their bodies dictate their practice schedule. Mike Gandy was on the same plan Friday.
St. Louis Rams - QB Rotation: Marc Bulger (1st Q+), Chris Chandler (2nd-3rd Qs), Jeff Smoker (4th Q).
QB Marc Bulger should see action into the second quarter before giving way to Chris Chandler and rookie Jeff Smoker.

Defensive line banged up: DE Bryce Fisher (ankle), DE Erik Flowers (hamstring), DE Anthony Hargrove (knee and ankle), DT Jimmy Kennedy (foot), and DE Leonard Little (hamstring).
The Rams might have a makeshift offensive line throughout the preseason. Offensive line is still without Orlando Pace (contract dispute), and some minor injuries to OT Jeremy Phillips (shoulder), OT Kyle Turley (back) and C Dave Wohlabaugh (hip).
The Rams will go easy on Marshall Faulk. Coach Mike Martz said, "He looks like the Marshall of old, but we're really cautious with him. We want him to be cautious and take this thing in stride."
