Oakland A's at Minnesota Twins
Monday, August 9, 2004 1:10 P.M. EDT EST
A's and Twins had played two straight unders before the bats awakened late in yesterday's 6-5 18-inning thriller. Look for the bats to stay awake with Harden and Lohse the opposing hurlers. The A's have gone over in 4 of Harden's last 5 starts and the Twins over in 7-of-10 started by Kyle Lohse.
Good Luck -Robert Ross

Washington vs. Denver at Canton (OH)
Washington
In the battle for the starting quarterback spot, 12-year veteran Mark Brunell gets the first opportunity to impress coach Joe Gibbs. Brunell will start against Denver and be followed by last year’s starter, Patrick Ramsey.
Gibbs is being tight-lipped regarding the amount of playing time his starters will see. Other signal-callers on the roster are Tim Hasselbeck and Gibran Hamdan.
Former Denver running back Clinton Portis is expected to start against his old team despite a mild groin pull. Another injured starter, linebacker LaVar Arrington, is expected to start as well despite a bruised thigh. However, linebacker Mike Barrow, defensive end Philip Daniels, and offensive guard Randy Thomas, all starters, are expected to miss the contest, the first of five for the team in the preseason.
Denver
Backups will receive the majority of playing time for Denver, as well, with the first units expected to take no more than 10-to-12 snaps. With Portis now in Washington, Denver has several backs in camp competing for his vacated playing time. One runner who won’t go Monday is Garrison Hearst, formerly of San Fran, who will sit out tonight’s game with a sore knee. And rookie runner Tatum Bell, the club’s second-round draft pick, is out indefinitely with a broken finger.
Also, 10-year veteran Luther Elliss, who was brought in from Detroit to compete for a starting spot along the defensive line, won’t play due to a sore hamstring.
Trends
Denver is 16-5 SU (14-6-1 ATS) in preseason action since 1999, including 5-1 ATS in road play. The team is 14-4 SU (13-4-1 ATS) overall versus the National Conference in that stretch.
Denver is 10-2 Under the past three preseasons, including 6-0 Under on the highway.
Washington stayed under the total in all four preseason contests last year.THICK 1

The Week of 8/9/2004 - 8/16/2004
Get the Factsman Live at (877) 855-0466 to get all the
Facts you need to win this football season!
NFL -August 9
EXHIBITION GAME
Aug 09 WASHINGTON -2-110 o33½-110 -140
5:00 PM DENVER +2-110 u33½-110 +120
Key Facts: Last twelve pre season games for Denver 2 – 10 under
Last year Skins perfect 4 – 0 under. Joe Gibbs is very conservative in
pre-season This game is an under bottom line, both teams play under football in pre-season and Gibbs will not gamble and Shanahan has to work on that defense. He knows where his offense is.
Suggested Play: Under 33 ½
NFL -August 12
EXHIBITION GAMES
Aug 12 CHICAGO +4-110 o36½-110 +170
5:00 PM ST. LOUIS -4-110 u36½-110 -200
Key Facts: This game is more important to Bears coach Lovey Smith, former defensive coordinator for the Rams. This game is important to him and as a first year coach and the knowledge of the Rams squad. Look for the Bears to be the better prepared team and the team looking to win. The Bears want to win this game and the Rams could care less and I am getting -4.5 points, enough said.
Suggested Play: Bears + 4
NFL -August 13
EXHIBITION GAMES
Aug 13 PHILADELPHIA +3½-110 o33-110 +155
5:00 PM NEW ENGLAND -3½-110 u33-110 -175
Key Facts: Belichick loves to win in the pre season, last year 4 – 0 SU,
4 – 0 ATS and 9 – 2 ATS 82% the last 3 years. Philadelphia has a history of showing a lot of faces in the Andy Reid era. Pats are a 3 deep team, talent all over the board. Philly is a team that they lose a McNabb or an Owens and they may be done. Never bet on a team in pre-season that bases their team around 2 – 3 players. Reid will not gamble this early.
Suggested Play: New England – 3 ½ 10 Star Special
NFL -August 14
EXHIBITION GAMES
Aug 14 DALLAS -2-110 o33-110 -140
5:00 PM HOUSTON +2-110 u33-110 +120
Key Facts: Who hates losing more Bill Parcells or Jerry Jones? Neither!
Dallas 3 – 1 ATS last year. Dallas showed us by cutting Quincy Carter they want to win now and Vinny has two kids behind him that are the Cowboys future. Dallas wins and plays hard, Houston doesn’t. Real simple Dallas wins for fun.
Houston 0 – 4 SU and 0 – 4 ATS last year.
Houston 1 – 8 SU last 9, 2 – 7 ATS last 3 years, 22%
Suggested Play: Dallas – 2 our game of the week!

EXHIBITION GAME
Aug 16 SEATTLE +3½-110 o37½-110 +150
5:00 PM GREEN BAY -3½-110 u37½-110 -170
Key Facts: 37 ½ is the highest total of the week! History shows over 15 years the highest opening total in week one has gone over 13 out of 15 times. In Green Bay a pre-season game has more juice then a world series game. This is what the fans wait for in Packer land. The Packers will score on Seattle who has shuffled in some new faces on defense and Seattle will not let the track meet be one sided. They will be right there slinging. It is over at the 5 minute mark of the 3rd quarter.
Suggested Play: Over 37 ½ in a pre season shoot out!
A lot of guys will cut and paste stats, trends and strong opinions on what the real deal in pre-season football really is. FACT is, I will never give a reason to play a game because of a 10 year history. Most of the facts I use are predominately last year’s tendencies or coaches’ history. My advantage is I get reports everyday from training camps and I do not like to type summaries on games.
The pre-season edition of the Fact Sheet is an example of what kind of information the sheet provides for the regular season. You will get 2 – 3 college and NFL games, a recommended teaser and a parlay card option on the 4 best bets in college and pro football.GLTA
