              Play - Ball :

Interestingly enough the Fish are a very good play against any team with a winning record in the second half . Since 97 they are 163-158 and a + 45.2* / Last 3 years a 70-42 @ + 35.6* , tossin thier Under/Over here (which is a very positive+) after 3 wins in a row and you have the makins for a very solid bet .

              Fla - 150 + Over 9 - 110 + Oak/Texas Over 11 - 120 + Mariners/ Angels Over 9 - 120 @ a * = 969.00

              Lovin it

              G.L.

                Catching the Eye :

New York Mets at Atlanta Under 9 -109

                - Trachsel & Hampton
                - Listed pitchers

There are plenty of reasons to expect a low scoring game here. First we should mention that these two teams and two pitchers squared off less than a week ago in the Big Apple and a total of seven runs were produced. Atlanta will enter this contest 40-56 (o/u) this season and 19-27 (o/u) at home. Moreover, they are a staggering 24-44 (o/u) in night games this season and 11-24 (o/u) when the total is between 9 and 9.5 this season. Note too that the Braves are now 2-13-1 (o/u) their last sixteen.

Those just happen to be—solid and straightforward—respective “Under” trends of 58%, 58%, 67%, and 87%.

Looking at the Braves recent stats paints a pretty clear picture of why they are an “Under” team of late. They are averaging just 3.4 runs per contest over their last seven. In addition, the Braves boast a phenomenal 2.62 ERA as a team their last ten games and a microscopic 1.05 ERA from the pen over the same stretch. It does not get much better than that when looking to play a game “Under”.

As far as the pitching match-up goes, the Braves Hampton enters with a less than impressive 4.92 ERA and 1.642 WHIP. However, he has a 2.14 ERA and 0.942 WHIP over his last three starts. We should also note that he is a whopping 18-38 (o/u) his last fifty-six starts when the total is set between 9 and 9.5 Note too that he is a lefty and the Mets are averaging just 4 runs per game against left-handed starters. The Mets Trachsel meanwhile carries a 3.59 ERA and 1.335 WHIP. By all accounts, he shouldn’t have much trouble shutting down a struggling Braves offense. Oh … and one last thing to note is each of the past four meetings between these clubs have played “Under”. We’ll trust the numbers here and call for this one to stay far below the posted number.

                G.L.

                  Adding :

Los Angeles at SD -131 - The Dodgers have a nice run going on the road (10-2 L12) but I am going against them in this spot. Adam Eaton has been particularly impressive against the Dodgers only allowing 8 er over 42.2ip (1.51 era) over his last seven starts against them in 2003 and 2004 and threw a one hit gem at LA on 7/25. SD is 7-2 in Eaton's last nine starts and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Pads also have a pretty good bullpen, if Eaton can get them a lead late in the game. I'll make a play on the Pads at home.

St. Louis at SF over 8.5 -110 - Carpenter has been touched up a little bit in his last three (5.49 era, 1.68 whip allowing 26 hits over 19.2 ip) and doesn't pitch as well on the road. St. Louis has been involved in some high scoring games on road lately as they have gone over in 7 of their last 8. SF has gone over 28-19 at home including 8 of the last 10 and Williams does not have impressive home splits (5.11, 1.38 whip) and has not been sharp lately walking 13 in his last 17 ip. I'll check the wind and the umpire before gametime but this looks like a good over play here.

Other considerations for me tonight are Colorado +120 vs. the Big Unit. Colorado is 10-5 at home vs. LH's scoring 7.2 rpg and fading Az. is always a consideration. Anaheim/Seattle over 9 -102. Merriwether behind the plate is an over ump and Meche's L3 are horrendous and his road splits are not good. GL on the action!
