Pittsburgh and Atlanta Under 8 -109

Both teams are playing great ball right now. The Pirates have come on the last two weeks and the Braves are playing their best ball of the year. pitching is behind both teams success. The teams combined in their last 20 games are 16-3-1 for the under. Both Jaret Wright and Kris Benson have been on fire. Wright with a .90 ERA in his last three and Benson with a 1.93 ERA in his last three. This should be a well played series. The bullpens ERA in the last 10. Atlanta 1.92 and Pittsburgh 2.42.

This big series kicks off tonight in Chicago. Buerhle has fared very well against the Twins over his career going 13-4 in those starts. He has pitched very well in his last three starts going 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 23 innings. Radke is 8-32 (-26.7 Units) against the money line vs. AL teams scoring 5.2 or more runs/game in the second half of the season since 1997. Buerhle is 30-10 (+15.2 Units) against the money line after giving up 1 or less earned runs last outing since 1997. The Sox are scoring 5.9 runs per game at home while Minnesota's putting up just 4.4 on the road. One unit on the White Sox here.

For Monday take Cleveland to beat Detroit.

Cleveland is a solid 30-22 at home and over .500 for the season at 50-49.

Cliff Lee has been stout this season with a 10-2 record and 4.22 ERA. The Indians are 14-6 in Lee's starts including 7-1 in the last eight starts by Lee. Lee had a rough start last time out against the White Sox but Lee will not fall apart in back-to-back starts. Expect him to be back to his top form.

Mike Maroth is 7-7 with a 4.57 ERA and the Tigers are 9-11 when he starts.

Cleveland is 8-3 in their last 11 while Detroit has lost seven of its last 10. The home team has now prevailed in 9 of the last 13 meetings between the Indians and Tigers.

The Indians are charged up after a four-game sweep of the Royals and that momentum will carry them to a victory in game one of this series.

The Pirates starter today (Benson) is in top form and has a stingy looking 1.93 ERA over his L3 starts. Benson has been outstanding in his last seven starts, posting a 4-1 mark and a 2.36 ERA while tossing at least seven innings an outing. The right-hander has allowed just 18 hits over his L23.2 innings of work. The Under is 7-2-1 in Benson's last 10 starts. His pitching opponent Wright is also currently in top form and has a minuscule 0.90 ERA over his L3 starts. The Braves hurler has a Major League-best 1.81 ERA in evening games and in four July starts has registered a nifty looking 1.38 ERA. Note: The Braves have a 10-1-1 record favoring the UNDER in their L12 games. I expect two more than capable pitchers to keep this game on the low side of the Total.
