So the state of Florida is allowing sportsbooks? Do you have a link to the article?

Interesting you moving to the boat in TB. 20 people I know just moved down there to work. I use to work on the boat in Pompano Beach. They all have sportsbooks on them! Well at least the one I worked on and the few I gambled on! Thing is you have to wait till you get into internation waters.

BOL to you on your new journey

How far is international waters away from where the boats are docked at? Kinda weird as the are obviously an American company docked at an American dock then floating into international water makes it legal?

            International waters and Gambling boats

These gambling boats offer "mini-cruises" that last between 2-12 hours depending on the format and schedule. They can't offer any gambling until they reach international waters. They have blackjack, craps, lots of slots (ugh!) and some offer other wagering as well. International waters boundaries do vary but in Florida it's usually only a few miles offshore and the games are fired up within 20 minutes of the boat sailing. The thing I haven't seen explained is payouts on sports wagering. Obviously the other games (blackjack, etc.) are paid out immediately. To collect on a sports wager on a game that is concluded after the cruise is over may require taking a later cruise. It's an interesting concept however. The allowing of gambling in international waters has never been challeged by our government and is accepted as perfectly legal. The sports book concept, however, is new (I think as I've never heard of it before but am very familiar with the mini-cruise boats that sail out of Florida).

One additional note, the SunCruise boats were recently purchased out of a bankruptcy court proceeding so I suspect the sports books are a new wrinkle of the new owners.

              griswold,

The new boat in Tampa is going to stay in international waters and have a charter bring them in and out. I haven't seen it but I heard its a big Cruise ship. Thats the only way to go. Leave the boat out in the water and let the people come and go as they want!!!
