One bet yesterday, taking the Dodgers -1 1/2 was a costly bet for me! If I play them on the moneyline, I only lose 1.50 units for the day, but since I bet them on the RL, I ended up losing 21.50 units! (Ouch that hurts, but lesson learned)
2nd Half Record
10-12 +1.20 units
Banger Alert Record is now 6-3
Todays Banger Play
4:05 Boston Schilling -1.60 at Angels Lackey +1.40;
Curt Schilling is a perfect 6-0 this season when he climbs the mound for a day game. His ERA drops from 3.16 to 2.93. The Red Sox know that Schilling excels in the daytime, and they tend to drive in runs to back him up.
In Schilling's last 3 afternoon outings, he's received a total of 30 runs of support. In his most recent day start on 27 June, Boston won 12-3 over the Phillies.
Other teams are saying your timing is off from seeing Wakefield and all of a sudden you see Schilling's stuff coming in there. It's definitely a nice setup to disrupt other team's timing at the plate.
Schilling has stopped numerous Boston losing streaks this year;
3 July start; Boston had a 4 gm losing streak, Schilling won 6-1 at Atlanta.
22 June start; Boston had a 2 gm losing streak, Schilling won 9-2 vs Twins.
5 June start; Boston had a 4 gm losing streak, Schilling won 8-4 at Kansas City.
Lackey has lost all 4 of his starts against Boston; Lost 9-10 at Boston, Lost 3-5 at Boston, Lost 4-6 vs Boston, and Lost 1-2 vs Boston. Boston's active roster players are 30 for 84 for a .357 BAA, .409 OBP, .631 SLG %, and average 1 extra base hit every 6.5 at bats against Lackey. All of the stats above are way above league statistics averages.
Most noteable hitters vs Lackey
Garciaparra 5 for 11 .455 Baa .727 SLG% 1 HR
Mueller 5 for 10 .500 BAA .700 SLG %
Ramirez 4 for 9 .444 BAA 1.111 SLG % 2 HR's
Varitek 3 for 7 .429 BAA .714 SLG %
Mirabell 2 for 3 .667 BAA .667 SLG %
Nixon 3 for 8 .375 BAA .500 SLG %
Ortiz 3 for 9 .333 BAA .556 SLG %
Burks 2 for 6 .333 BAA 1.000 SLG % 1 HR
Millar 2 for 8 .250 BAA .628 SLG % 1 HR
Those my friends are some serious numbers and should produce some runs for Mr. Schilling today!
The Angels active roster players are 29 for 127 for a .228 BAA, .256 OBP, and a .433 SLG %. The Angels average 1 extra base hit every 10.5 at bats against Schilling. If you take away Vladimir's numbers, the stats above go down, like they only average 1 extra base hit every 21 at bats. So in a nut shell, if Schilling pitches around him today, he can definitely handle the rest of the lineup. Play it or fade it, the decision is yours, but my money is on the Red Sox today with the fierce competitor Curt Schilling. Wagering 1600/to win 1000 or 10 units on the Red Sox!
