      Mary PPP

I forgot about PPP. I don't get Joe direct. I get him from a friend. I think he was 5-1 last night? Joe is a good handicapper but he sure makes a lot of plays. His basketball was really good this year and I have him finishing at about 56% on almost 800 plays!!

I have him at 110-78 in baseball but that could be off a bit. Joe tends to get fixated on the same plays. He has been on an anti-DevilRay tthing for about 2 weeks and it is not working for him..

                  PIT (BENSON) -120 over Mon (Armas) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific

Benson has been on a nice little run. Over his last six starts, he has a 3.19 ERA and .222 BAA._ Those numbers should hold up against the weak hitting Expos lineup._ Armas has been only decent since returning from injury._ The hot Pittsburgh team behind Benson should be able to win this one.

                  _

                  UNDER 10.5 NYM (GINTER)/PHI (MILLWOOD) +104 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific

Millwood has owned the Mets hitters in his appearances against them. Similarly, Ginter has had two starts against the Phillies, and has a 0.00 ERA and .138 BAA against them._ Millwood's ERA is pretty high this year, but his K/BB ratio is still solid, so his ERA should start coming down._

                  _

                  UNDER 9 OAK (HARDEN)/BOS (SCHILLING) -108 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific

Schilling has become Boston's ace, and should not have any problems against an Oakland lineup that has been pretty bad on the road._ I don't envision Oakland scoring much, so Boston would have to do a lot of scoring to push this one over._ Harden is good enough to prevent that from happening, so I'll take the under here._

                  _

                  TB (ZAMBRANO) +146 over NYY (Contreras) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific

Zambrano has dominated the Yankees, and is already 3-0 with a 3.64 ERA and .177 BAA against them this year._ Contreras has been very wild this year, and it's hard to tell what you're going to get from him, but given Zambrano's success against the Yanks, I'll have to take him and the number.

Note: Colorado since the return of All star out fielder (Larry Walker) have been tearing the ball apart and eclipsed the number in 7 consecutive games(100%) with the combined average total runs coming in at 15.4 rpg. The Rockies opponents tonight the San Diego Padres have also been on a tear of late and are hitting right handers like todays starter for the Rockies Jennings) at a hefty .304 clip. Jennings has allowed 11 runs and 19 hits in his last 12 1/3 inningsThe Padres have gone OVER the total in 6 of their L9 outings

1000* WINNER: Tampa Bay Devil Rays

The Devil Rays have been much better than the New York Yankees since late May, in fact, they've been better than any other team in the Majors, and this is in large part to a spectacular First Half by Victor Zambrano. And even though he insists he won't have any additional motivation when he pitches against the New York Yankees tonight since he was left off the A.L. All-Star team, I say he comes in on a mission because of general principle. Zambrano has been stellar for the D Rays, winning a club-record six straight, as he hasn't lost since May 15. He already has three wins over the Yankees, and is 9-4 with a 4.30 ERA on the season. As for the D Rays as a team, a torrid June (20-6) vaulted them into third place in the American League East, and who leads this division? Of course, the pinstripes from the Bronx. Call me crazy, call me nuts, but I am unloading a ton on this game tonight at +140, and look to destroy the books with this easy winner tonight!!! LISTED PITCHERS IS A MUST IN THIS CLASH, with Zambrano versus Contreras!!!

Tampa Bay w/Zambrano over New York

                          Cincinatti w/Wilson over Milwaukee

                          Detroit w/Maroth over Minnesota

Tampa Bay is now 8-2 in Zambrano's last 10 starts, and have won 5 of their last 9. They have cooled off a little, since going 20-5 in June, but have now cashed two in a row, and have to be ready for the Bronx tonight. In his last three starts, Zambrano is 2-0, with an unbelievable .086 ERA ! Tampa Bay won Zambrano's last start against the Yankees, back in May, 7-6, and I look for two in a row tonight !!

Paul Wilson has been dominate for the Reds this year, going 8-2 on the year, with the team going 12-4 in his 16 appearences. He has a razor sharp 3.63 ERA on the season, and will look to shut down the struggling Brewers tonight. Milwaukee is 3-7 in Obermuller's last 10 starts, so I'll ride the Reds tonight !!

The Tigers continue to show that they can score runs. Just take a look at what they did in the Bronx the past three days. They scored 19 runs in their past two games against the Yanks pitching. The Twins have certanily shown that they give up lot's of runs, and Mulholland has been walking batters, which has led to his 7.94 ERA over his last three starts. If the Tigers get some base runners, this one will be a blowout, because they will get them in !! Tigers !!

                          10,000* Padres

The Jays send rookie David Bush, who in his first start went five innings plus only giving up one earned run on four hits only allowing one walk. Toronto has taken four of the first five this season from the Mariners, and will take the fifth of six today over Franklin and his five flat ERA on the year.

Paul Wilson, after suffering his first loss two weeks ago on the year in Queens, is now 1-2 with an ERA of 5.58 over those three starts. Wilson is 0-1 with an ERA of 5.14 against Milwaukee and his team is 1-4 in his five starts against the Brewers. All Milwaukee tonight.

The Padres have won five of seven, and send Eaton to the mound who is 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA his last three starts Jennings for the Rockies is 3-4 with a 6.08 ERA on the road, so you can't blame his troubles all on Coors. All Padres tonight.

The Devil Rays over the Yankees

Listen closely, Victor Zambrano is unbeaten in his last nine starts, and he has absolutely dominated the Yankees this season every single time he has taken the hill against the stripes.

BUT THAT IS ONLY A PORTION OF MY ARGUMENT!!!

Guys, do you realize that the Devil Rays are 9-0-2 in their last 11 series, including 5-0-2 on the road?

Do you realize Tampa Bay is the hottest Major League Baseball team since late May? Yes, better than the Yankees, Red Sox, Padres - all of em!!!

The surprising Devil Rays climbed back above .500 with a 13-3 rout of Baltimore on Wednesday, and are revved up for this game tonight - mark my words.

Zambrano, who has already beaten the Yankees three times this year, is 5-0 in 10 appearances, including nine starts, since a 9-7 loss at Cleveland on May 15. He opened the season with three straight wins, including a pair of victories over the Yankees.

Of course, Zambrano made waves when he opened the big league season with an 8-3 triumph over New York in Japan on March 30, beat the Yankees 9-4 in the Bronx on April 6 and picked up a 7-6 triumph over New York at Tropicana Field on May 30. In his three starts against New York, Zambrano has allowed seven runs and 11 hits over 17-1/3 innings.

And talk about being on fire as of late, he has yielded one earned run or fewer in four of his last five outings overall.

Here is the kicker - he was not named to the A.L. All-Star team. Think he'll be looking to prove a point tonight?
                          Run-Line Blowouts
                          50* WINNERS

The Giants over the D'Backs and the Red Sox over the Athletics

San Francisco gets an Arizona team that just finished a brutal showing in Los Angeles, where the Dodgers destroyed the snakes 11-0 on Wednesday.

And the Giants will be a tough customer for Elmer Dessens in his return to the rotation, as he is 0-3 with a 7.82 ERA in 11 career appearances, including six starts, against San Francisco - his worst ERA against any team.

Arizona has lost 16 of 18 overall and nine in a row on the road. Tonight will be no better, as I see Bonds possibly cranking a pair to McCovey Cove!!!

For the Red Sox, Curt Schilling comes in off a brilliant performance in Atlanta, where half of Turner Field was cheering for him, as the Red Sox cruised to a 6-1 win.

Schilling, who just may end up getting the nod as the American League All-Star starter on Tuesday, has been outstanding for the Bosox this season, posting an 11-4 mark to go along with a 3.08 earned run average. He is also third in the league in strikeouts and has been incredible in Beantown, where he is 7-0 with a 2.48 in nine starts.

While the Red Sox are 26-14 at Fenway Park this season, Oakland has just six wins in its last 21 on the road.

Tonight it gets ugly - again!

                          Tony Darden
                          MLB THURSDAY
10,000,000* GAME OF MY CAREER #2 IN A ROW
Tampa Bay w/Zambrano over New York
Here's the bottom line with this game. To take the Devil Rays, as hot as they are right now, and their ace on the mound, in Zambrano, at +160 against the Yankees and their worst pitcher, is a steal. Contreras could give up 10 runs to this team tonight, as he continues to struggle in every outing. The D-Rays were 20-5 in June, and have been red hot, scoring plenty of runs. This is their best shot to grab a win in the Bronx tonight, and I'm riding them, looking for the big payday !!

                          also

                          Detroit w/Maroth over Minnesota
Detroit has struggled in Maroth's starts on the road, but I look for them to grab a win tonight. Mulholland is a lousy 1-3 on the year, with an ERA over 5.50 on the year, and a worse 7.30 ERA in his last three starts. Let's ride the Tigers, and look for them to score some early runs in this one !!

                          Cincinatti w/Wilson over Milwaukee
No disputing what Wilson has done this year for the Reds ! Cinci is 12-4 in Wilson's last 16 starts, while Milwaukee is 3-7 in Obermueller's last 10 starts, so give the pitching matchup to the Reds. Obermuller is giving up a lot of runs, with a 8.00 ERA over his last three, so I'll take my shot with the hot pitcher tonight. All Reds and Wilson !

                          Trace Adams
                          500* Detroit w/Maroth 250* Cincinnati w/Wilson
Minnesota took advantage of a Kansas City team that has called it quits for the first half of the season, romping the Royals 3 straight times, holding them scoreless for the 27 innings of play!

Pretty impressive stuff, but that should breed a little over-confidence when the Twins hit the field tonight against the Tigers, especially when you consider the Twins are 21-4 at home against the Tigers since 2002.

Detroit is fresh off a hitting display against the vaunted Yankees, and should be ready to tee-off on Terry Mulholland. Lefty Maroth counters with some less then inspiring numbers, but I get the feeling Detroit is the way to go tonight in a slugfest.

                          500* Detroit w/Maroth

Cincy sure misses their main cog Sean Casey, but I am willing to play the Reds based on the law of averages.

The Reds are off the wrong side of a sweep against the front-running Cardinals, while the Brewers just pounded the Cubbies into submission for a 3 game sweep.

Cincinnati does have the better hurler going tonight, and I believe Paul Wilson will right the ship this evening for the Redlegs.

The Reds are 0-2 at Miller Park this year, but entered the campaign a dominant 13-5 on Brewer-turf over the last 2 seasons. Cincy draws first blood.

                          250* Cincinnati w/Wilson
