The Brewers are in danger of getting swept a 4-game set here by the Bucs. The Brewers have not been swept on the road all season, winning the only time they were in jeopardy.

Vegas Experts Tip of the Day

Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves, Sunday, July 4, 2004 1:05 P.M. EST EST

Both pitchers in this one have given up way more hits than innings pitched. Derek Lowe has allowed 102 hits in 82 IP as he works on a 5.47 ERA. He is 23-9 over the past three seasons as a road favorite. Mike Hampton has allowed 119 hits in 86 IP and has an ERA of 6.48 over his last three starts.

-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updated weekly on the "Records" page of our website.

-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Monday, July 5th.

          Season record: 158-164 -22.67 UNITS

Lines from Pinnacle current as of 12:47pm Pacific on 07/02/04.

          Five plays for Sunday:

          UNDER 9 SEA (PINIERO)/STL (SUPPAN) +103 - 2 UNITS - 11:15am Pacific
Pineiro should be able to hold St. Louis' lineup in check (more detail in write up below). Their offense is still struggling mightily, so I envision a low scoring game.

          OVER 9.5 BOS (LOWE)/ATL (HAMPTON) +104 - 1 UNIT - 10:05am Pacific
Hampton has struggled all season long, and he probably hasn't faced a lineup as good as Boston's yet, so I don't see things getting any better for him. Lowe has also been struggling, and Atlanta's lineup does pretty well against groundball types like Lowe. Lowe relies heavily on the defense behind him, and Boston's defense has been a disappointment thus far. Each starter is capable of giving up more than a few runs in this one.

          TEX (BENOIT) +164 over Hou (Pettitte) - 1 UNIT - 11:05am Pacific
I think this line is a little too high given Texas' talented lineup. They have also done very well against lefties. Their offense has not performed as well on the road, but will take my chances in the hitters park.

          SEA (PINEIRO) +143 over STL (Suppan) - 1 UNIT - 11:15am Pacific
I think this is excellent value for Pineiro, who has been on a tear over the past month. Texas got the better of him a couple of starts ago, but he bounced back and shut them down in his last start. He has been pitching well enough to make me feel confident against a high powered lineup like St. Louis. The only real problem I foresee is the Mariners scoring runs. The Seattle hitters have fared very well in very limited action against Suppan, however.

          OAK (MULDER) -121 over SF (Williams) - 1 UNIT - 1:05pm Pacific
Williams missed his last start due to tendinitis in his throwing shoulder. He's thrown a lot of innings during his brief career, so that type of injury could signal overuse. If Williams has a tired arm, then Mulder at this number is a bargain, and I'll take it. Regardless of Williams' health, Mulder should be able to control the Giants' lineup, and won't need a whole lot of run support.

PLEASE NOTE: All wagers are recommended for a "base" unit. Thus a side for 1 UNIT at -110 should be considered risking 1.10 UNITS to win 1.00 UNITS, while a team at +110 should be considered risking 1.00 UNITS to win 1.10 UNITS.

TAMPA BAY (Halama) +161 at FLORIDA (Burnett) -171 +122
            MLB - 3:05PM (EST)

Tampa Bay continues to impress winning their 4th game against the Marlins on Saturday & today they will look to sweep the series. Offensivly the Rays have the edge, averaging over 5.5 runs per game in their last 10, while the Marlins are just managing 3.5 over that span.

Florida’s offensive troubles have been even worse against left-handed pitching this year – as they are batting only .247 at home & averaging under 4 runs per game. On Sunday the Marlins will have to face another southpaw – John Halama who is (2-0) on the road is holding left-handed batters to a .188 average this season.

Although A.J. Burnett has looked dominating at times, he is still winless on the year (0-3) & the Marlins are (0-6) in the games he starts, yet he is a very big favorite in today’s game.

While the D-Ray’s are still playing solid baseball, they are a good value on Sunday as big underdogs on the road with their left-handed pitcher on the hill

SAN FRANCISCO (Williams) +$115 over OAKLAND (Mulder)
Yes, we know how good Mark Mulder is, but the Giants have a
lot going for them in this game as well. They've won 7 of 11
and their pitching staff's ERA is 3.80 during that skein. The
Giants are +$785 at home while the Athletics are -$650 on
the road and 7-13 (-$375) as a dog. Jerome Williams is 2-1
lifetime vs. Oakland with a 1.76 ERA. Best of all, the Giants
are an amazing 13-1 at home (+$1200) vs. southpaws averaging
5.5 RPG. Giants take two of three for the second time in a
                week vs. their crossbay rivals.

                      JULY: 3-0

Cleveland and Cincinnati Over 10 +105
The way that these two teams have been hitting the ball and the pitchers today have been pitching, it seems this is a very good play. Cincinnati has gone over 7 of the last 10 games. Cleveland has gone over four of the last five games. Jake Westbrook was a favorite of ours this year but he has been roughed up recently. Westbrook is 1-5 in his last six on the road. The Indians are 0-3 in his last three and his ERA is 5.29. Harang hasn't been much better for Cincy. The Reds are 1-2 in his last three and his ERA is a little higher at 5.65. These two teams have been solid plays on the Over all year, Cleveland going 42-33 and the Reds 45-35 Overs on the year.

Okay, last Sunday I was going for comp pick # 8 in a row and got beat.Well the last six days I have gone 4-2 with comp selections, bringing the current run to 11-3 the last 14.
Today it will be Ted Lilly of the Blue Jays doing what he does best and that is win on the road.He is 5-1 this year away from Skydome and comes off a great start in Tampa last time out in getting the win.
Considering the fact that the Expos are 3-10 in San Juan this year and how hot Lilly has been on the road, I will grab the favorite today and watch Toronto take two of three in the series.

Florida is 2-7 against the money line in home games in an inter-league game this season.
Florida is 7-16 against the money line in home games when playing against a team with a winning record this season.

In short, we like the live dog here with Tampa Bay.
