Today the National Sports Advisors look for New York to cover as +7 underdogs, when they matchup with the LA Lakers in NBA action tonight.
The Lakers look to avoid going into the All-Star break under .500 for the first time since the 1993-94 season when they visit the New York Knicks.
Los Angeles got off to a poor start and dropped a season-worst eight-games under .500 at 11-19 after a loss to the Sacramento Kings on Christmas Day. However, the Lakers have rebounded nicely, winning 12 of 16 and four straight.
They took another big step Tuesday, beating the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers 97-94 as Kobe Bryant scored 35 points and Shaquille O'Neal added 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Los Angeles is facing a Knick team that is also back in the playoff race. The Knicks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 105-92 on Tuesday for their seventh win in 10 games.
Latrell Sprewell snapped the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a game without a misfire, going 9-for-9 from behind the arc en route to a season-high 38 points.
Since the beginning of the 3-point line in 1979-80, the old NBA mark of 8-for-8 was held by Jeff Hornacek, Sam Perkins and Steve Smith.
So why the KNICKS? Well, the Lakers have been playing well of late, but we still do not feel that they are back to the form that should be making them 7 point favorites against the Knicks. Granted the Knicks ara a mediocre team at best, but they are a good home team and are very capable of winning the game outright, not just covering
