    WinOnBaseball.com - Friday - 7/02/04

Welcome to our first annual service free trial!

-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updated weekly on the "Records" page of our website.

-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Saturday, July 3rd.

    Season record: 154-162 -24.88 UNITS

Lines from Pinnacle current as of 9:27pm Pacific on 07/01/04.

    Four plays for Friday:

    UNDER 7.5 MIL (DAVIS)/PIT (PEREZ) +100 - 1 UNIT - 2:05pm Pacific
Both lineups are pretty horrible against lefty pitching. Pittsburgh's BA/OBP/SLG splits against LHP are .230/.290/.342, while Milwaukee's are .231/.329/.390. Davis has been having a career year, and I don't think his performances have been a fluke. Perez was dominating in his last start, striking out 13. With two very good lefties on the mound and two weak hitting LHP lineups, runs should be hard to come by in this one.

    OVER 13 DET (BONDERMAN)/COL (KENNEDY) +106 - 1 UNIT - 5:05pm Pacific
Kennedy has pitched surprisingly well at Coors, but Detroit's offense has been a scoring machine, and should put up some pretty big numbers in this series, They've put up 43 runs in their last 5 games. Detroit's pitching has been very bad, and the Colorodao hitters at home should have a feast as well. Should be some high scoring games in this series.

    OVER 7.5 KC (REYES)/SD (PEAVY) +103 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Peavy is coming off of an extended stay on the DL, so he's not a good bet to look strong in this one. KC's offense has been terrible, but I think they have a chance to look decent against a rusty Peavy. Reyes has control problems and San Diego has been very good against lefties (.298 BA, .374 OBP, .425 SLG), which is not a good combination for him. KC's pen won't help keep the scoring low either.

    OAK (REDMAN) +109 over SF (Rueter) - 1 UNIT - 7:15pm Pacific
Will always strongly consider betting against Rueter, especially when he's a favorite. Redman got bombed against the Giants in his last start, but he was working on three days' rest, which may explain his ineffectiveness. He also claims to have been working on a new pitch in that game, which cost him a HR against Grissom. Rueter also got bombed by the A's, and I think a repeat performance by him is a good possibility.

PLEASE NOTE: All wagers are recommended for a "base" unit. Thus a side for 1 UNIT at -110 should be considered risking 1.10 UNITS to win 1.00 UNITS, while a team at +110 should be considered risking 1.00 UNITS to win 1.10 UNITS

      7.10pm ET
      Cleveland (38 - 39) at Cincinnati (42 - 36)
Kazuhito Tadano (R) vs. Aaron Harang (R)

With two strong offensive lineup's tonight we'll recommend a play Over the total of 9.5.

The Over is hitting at 62% (31-19) in Cleveland's night games this season and 60% (30-20) for Cincinnati.

The Indians have scored at least five runs in 9 of their last 11 games, averaging 5.9 rpg during this stretch. Meantime the Reds are averaging 4.5 runs through their last ten games and have scored at least four runs in eight of those contests.

Against right-handed starters Cleveland are averaging 5.6 runs per game while Cincinnati are scoring 5.0 rpg.

Kazuhito Tadano gets his first career start tonight following a brief bullpen stint. He has appeared in seven games this season and has a 5.40 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and .325 BAA...hardly the kind of numbers that inspire confidence for him to get the nod as a starter. And if he gets in trouble early he'll have to hand it over to arguably the worst bullpen in the majors. On the road this season the Indians pen have blown 67% of their saves and have a bloated 7.04 ERA.

Aaron Harang heads to the hill for the Reds and tonight is his second start since coming off the disabled list with a strained ligament in his right elbow. Overall this season he is 4-2 with a 5.01 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.

These teams have met three times this season and those games saw total runs of 18, 15 and 11 runs scored. We're forecasting another double-digit total tonight and will recommend the Over with confidence.

      Recommended Play: Over 9.5 -115

Anaheim's Aaron Sele is 6-0 in his career team starts against Los Angeles and 8-1 in his team starts this season. The Angels are 9-3 in home series openers

Shell-shocked Red Sox go to Atlanta with so-so starter Arroyo on the hill facing a Braves team that has won 5-of-7.

                    MASTERBETS

                    JUNE 13-4
                    JULY 1-0

Orioles (Riley) @ Phillies (Myers): Bet the Over 10 total runs at -115.

When Matt Riley gets the ball for the Orioles the game goes Over. It really is as simple as that - in his last 7 starts the Over for total runs has won all 7 times. He has only made 8 starts in 2004, so that is a compelling stat. Part of the problem has been Riley's ineffective pitching, although he was strong last time out before the bullpen capitulated and blew the game (an 8-7 loss to the Braves).

Myers was shaky last time out and even worse the time before. He has now conceded 13 earned runs in his last 12 innings of work for an ERA over 9. That's not good. Finally, factor in that the new ballpark in Philly is the Coors Field of the East Coast - the ball carries all day long, and the Phillies are pounding out runs at home. The Orioles have power and speed in their lineup, and we expect both teams to score 5+ runs in this one.

10-5 my last 15 free plays, and tonight I like the OVER between the Reds and the Indians !

The Cleveland Indians have scored five, or more, runs in 9 of their last 11 games, while Cincinnati has averaged 5 runs through their last ten games and have scored at least four runs in eight of ten. Tadano has a 5.40 ERA, and on the road this season the Indians bullpen has a pathetic 7.04 ERA. Aaron Harang is 4-2 with a 5.01 ERA, on the season for the Reds. These teams have met three times this season, with all three flying OVER the posted total. Look for more of the same tonight.

JCD Sports on a 41-22 run (66%) over their last 62 free picks.

Today’s Free Pick in MLB: Atlanta -105 (Wright) over Boston (Arroyo)

Arroyo is 0-6 in his last 6 starts.
The Braves are 6-2 in their last eight overall
Atlanta is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings.
Boston is 3-7 over their last 10 games.

Wright has not given up the “long ball” in his last 24.1 innings pitched, and has only been tagged for 5 home runs the entire season to date.

Boston had to travel from NY to Atlanta after a gut wrenching 14 inning lost to Yankees
