  • Red SOX........

Is it time for this team to take off like the Yanks did after they were swept early in the season?

I think the Yanks were 8-11 at the time and had Oakland's BIG 3 on deck and went on miraculous run which they are still on now (42-15)

Can Boston pull off some 42-15 run now?.......They got the Starters, Relief & Bats

    PEACE

And don't forget they have a buffoon as a manager with a 4 bigtime losing seasons and a .440 winning percentage and someone who outside of what his computer/moneyball baseball stats. tell him doesn't have a clue.
Hope you are right but as a Sox diehard since 1952 I am not optimistic at all about wildcard chances now that there is practically zero chance of winning the division.
The defense is awful, starting pitching outside of Schilling and Martinez is questionable, and I would be surprised at this point if they even win 90 games;the next few weeks will say a lot-tough schedule.

Thats BS Savage..........Dont believe the HYPE the media sells Ive seen teams overcome deficits that big in 3 weeks let alone 3 MONTHS

Yanks arent built for the postseason anyways so their is no way in hell they can win it all with that bunch

If the RD SOX can get in I like their chances as much as anyones

One thing you forgot about with the Yankees, although they might not be built for the playoffs right now - Steinbrenner has a pockets of cash that says he can buy his way through the playoffs.

              MtrCtyPimp,

With all due respect, there is NO way the Red Sox catch the Yankees this season. With their pitching and lineup they should make the playoffs, but, will NOT make up 9 games in the loss column.

that aint gonna happen, no way, sox won't even make the post-season, IMO.

Pimp-In all due respect, I hope Sox do go on a 20 game winning streak, but I think (as a person who has lived and died with this team since 1952 and have watched Yankees enviously since then), that the chances of Sox catching Yankees are practicaly nil.
Wildcard perhaps but that is about it.
Sox from front office down to the players are simply not as good as Yankees at least when chips are down, and this has been demonstrated for 86 years;that is fact.
In my opinion the hiring of Francona to manage this team had at least 50% to do with pleasing Schilling and enticing him to come to Boston;now you see why he has has 4 bigtime losing seasons elsewhere, and is NOT the guy you want if you are trying to win a WS(its a dream in any event);he is too nice a guy, does not know how to fire/inspire this team and is really not respected by his players either in the sense one needs to be in order to be successful.

Reason of me posting this is reason for just something that was strikingly similar back in April when the Yanks got swept out of the STADIUM and went on to reel off a 42-15 stretch after that horrible 8-11 stretch

Boston is believe is 5-9 L14 games and are being written off for the AL East and even totally out of the playoffs by others

I still think Boston is loaded and will use this SWEEP as a springboard to turn their season around but I dont think it starts in Atlanta tonight

Keep in mind Pimp that while Sox might turn it around (hopefully), Yanks have a great manager over there while Sox have well lets kindly say someone trying to be one;thats REAL important, and as staed his credentials from other seasons don't exactly inspire confidence.
I sure hope you are correct here as you were with Lakers when they were down 0-2 to Spurs.;nothing would make me happier;as a Sox fan I am depressed, and if they ever get swept this weekend by the Braves, forget it-the team will be in total disarray;they really need at least 2-3 this weekend.

Sox are built for the postseason and the Yanks are not.......plain and simple

Brown is hurt with that back.........Vazquez never pitched a postseason game in his life and Mussina is well just average when it comes to a premium postseason pitcher

The heart and sould of the Yankees left with Pettitte and Clemens........sure anyone can beat up on teams with offense in the regular season but once the playoffs start its a totally different animal and I will take my chances with Pedro and Schilling any day of the week

Sox will hit and up the middle they can catch the ball where it matters most once Nomar gets back in form

Its 2 easy to say the Red Sox are out of it at 8.5 games back but how many more do they play H2H? 9 or 10

And is it only me or have the Yankees already played a bunch of their games vs Tampa and the Orioles?

U can spend all u want but when it counts I dont think the Yankees have enough

                        PEACE

I don't think Yankees will win the series this year but think they will take the division.
Hate to sound like a broken record, but Sox's only chance barring a total collapse of Yankees is wildcard;how can they possibly make up 8 1/2 games? Well if they defeat Yanks in most of remaining games, it is possible I guess but a dream also.

Savage that is ridiculous to say U cant overcome 1 team who is ahead of U by 8.5 games on July 2nd

Yanks are on some miraculous 42-15 stretch and it will not hold up.........it just cant

I dont think 8.5 is insurmountable on September 1st let alone July 2nd with the amount of time these teams play H2H

Get a grip BRO..........Yanks are in yer heads

                            PEACE

We play the Yanks coming up soon and hopefully we can help yer cause!

The Yankees are 42-15 in their last 57 and will be basically playing those same teams between now and the rest of the season. They play each other only 9 times between now and October, this race is OVER. Boston needs to concentrate on righting the ship and making the playoffs. Nomar is just about done playing in Boston after last night, I believe, he lost a lot of respect not playing in the game.
