  • RE: LA/SF total tonight

The over/under for tonight's game is currently 9un. It opened at 8.5un.

If the total remains 9 up to first pitch at 7:10 p.m. PST, this would be the highest total for an evening game at Dodger Stadium (i.e., starting at 7:10 local time--the Sunday Night games played there start at 5:00 local time) since September 21, 2001. That involved the Diamondbacks and Dodgers (Miquel Batista v. Terry Mulholland), and had a total of 9. The final score of that game? 10-0 Arizona.

As an aside, the over is 7-0 in Tomko's last 7 vs. LA, and Nomo has given up a total of 20 earned runs in his last 4 starts.

But don't you think this total looks fishy? Everybody knows to play the under with evening games in LA. Getting 9 runs to play with sounds too good to be true.

            I love the over

I'm breaking my vow of only playing the D-Rays until they lose three in a row because the lines have now caught up with reality and they are no longer the value steal of the decade (although I am playing them). I have to play tonight's LA-SF game and I'm on the over. These two pitchers are terribly cold right now. I bet early and got 8 1/2 at -120. I don't like the over in Dodgers games ever because of the Gagne factor but SF has been scoring runs in buckets the last few weeks, Nomo is having an awful year, Tomko isn't pitching well, etc. Nothing's a sure thing and those 7:05 starts in LA produce shadows at this time of year that makes early scoring difficult. But the number is low. We just have to get the runs early before the LA late relievers get in. GL to all.

Few teams piss me off as much as the Dodgers. SF lights up Nomo for 7, but LA registers 0 runs and 5 hits against Brett freaking Tomko. Give me a f'ing break! Congratulations to all under players, and if I led anyone to play the over, sorry. We should have gotten this one.

I'm sticking to the D-Rays until further notice. Departing from the strategy for one night was a mistake. Ignore all posts from me on baseball that do not deal with Tampa until further notice.
