  • Weirdo line of the month

How in the world can linemakers make a team with a nine game losing streak and THE SECOND WORST RECORD IN BASEBALL a
-230 favorite???? That's the line on Arizona tonight. Randy Johnson is pitching but in his last three starts his ERA is 4.74. San Diego couldn't have a more unattractive pitcher, a 30-year old roughed up in two innings of relief work since being called up and a career minor leaguer to boot. But still, San Diego's a solid team with a 19-18 road record playing a team that couldn't beat Cal-Fullerton. I can see making the D-Backs a favorite because of the pitching matchup, but -230???? I'd be all over the game but am continuing to abstain from betting any baseball team other than Tampa Bay.

I was thinking the same thing. That line is way out there.

Also add that Arizona's bullpen pitched along time last night.

If you play Arizona for any reason. That person better hope the BIG UNIT can pitch the whole game.

I didn't play it because of the rookie San Diego has pitching. That Guy just straight out sucks ass.

    GL on Tampa Bay tonight

And yet I see in the service section that Big Al McBlowhard has the D'Backs as the pick of the week.
From my perspective any service that would give out a team on a 10 game losing streak(not 9) with a huge line like that as a play of the week isn't worth much.

If that's Big Al's pick, he's just hustling his client. Baseball handicappers should be compelled to list their results in money won (or lost) rather than wins and losses. I suspect that some of these outfits that claim to be 20-10 are merely picking the biggest favorite on the board each night. If the D-Backs are to be a game of the month, or whatever, that implies a bigger bet for clients. making a big bet at that kind of number (-230) exposes the client to extraordinary risk for only limited reward.

My point is that as a regular pick, I can see it (I personally would not play Arizona on a 10 game losing streak), but win or lose to give them out as the play of the week with a 200+ line is unconscionable;it sort of reminds me of the services that told tgheir clients to lay 7-1 on Lakers over the Pistons because it was like stealing.

Now you know why I don't respect services like Big Al.
Going against 10 game losing streaks is questionable in itself, but laying 220+ and making it the Play of the Week is poor money management , makes no sense and is just plain stupid
