Saturday afternoon update from Net Prophet:

      MLB:

Tampa Bay (Hendrickson) -125 over Florida (Tejera) <<6:15 PM EASTERN START>>
Colorado (Kennedy) +150 over Cleveland (Sabithia)
St. Louis (Williams) -147 over Kansas City (Reyes)
Seattle (Villone) -108 over San Diego (Valdez)

      CFL:

      BC +3' over Edmonton

      NASCAR BUSCH SERIES:

Alan Kulwicki 250 from Milwaukee, WI

Race honoring the legendary Winston Cup champion who died in a plane crash a few years back. Kulwicki was one of the first guys to break the stereotype of NASCAR drivers being southern guys who dropped out of high school to race cars--he was from Wisconsin and had a degree in engineering. I wrote an article on Kulwicki a couple of years ago--I'll see if I can track it down and post it somewhere....

None of the books that usually carry Busch Series wagering (5 Dimes, Olympic, Aces) have their lines posted yet. Unusual format to this race as the entire deal will be held on one day--practice will be held Saturday afternoon, followed by qualifying for the race at 6 PM. After the teams qualify, Brad Paisley will entertain the assembled throngs until 8 PM driver intros. The race starts at 9 PM. Probably a fun thing for the fans, who get to spend all day at the race track but it makes it tough for handicappers and bookmakers since the start grid won't be set until a couple of hours before the race.

Anyway, here's the guys I'll be looking at to win. I'll *try* to send out an update after qualifying and once I see some lines posted. Obviously, you'll want to look at the two guys who seem to win every week in the Busch Series namely Martin Truex, Jr. and Kyle Busch. Throw in defending champion Jason Keller and the guy who one the two previous races before him, Greg Biffle and you've got a decent mix. If I'm going to eliminate one of these three drivers, it might be Busch who'll be racing on this track for the first time. Of course, he's a lot like his older brother Kurt in that you could drop him by parachute onto a go-kart track in the Australian Outback and he'd be contending for the win later that night. Obviously if one of these guys has a disasterous qualifying round or wrecks his equipment and has to go to a backup that would be enough to scare me off of them....

breakout the only game i played today was the cubs, and the bottom line is nothing is easy but if you apply yourself by doing a little research of pitchers etc.don't tell me you can't come up with a team worth betting, and remember the best team doesen't always win but it will most of the time.

            sea...hence the spread...

if it were as simple as looking at pitching matchups, bookies wouldn't exist, since they would have been wiped out by all the people caping themselves......

track texas sportswire for some time, i bet he smokes the average guys capping abilities....

breakout thanks for the heads up on texassportswire as i do look for the in football, but as far as the spreads in sports if anyone is going to be afraid of the spreads they put out on any of the sports then they should not be betting.you should never let a spread decide your wager.they put high lines out on these good pitchers in baseball to scare most people away from betting that team and hope they bet another and 8 times out of 10 the team they got scared off wins and the team they substituted and bet on lost.

seaofred.....breakout thanks for the interest in this topic and at least to me it seems you do know what you are doing, and i tip my hat to you.i hope you don't think i am argueing with you cause im not, just nice to see a smart doing their homework.

good luck bud and ill talk anytime with you
