Not to bad yesterday going a solid 70% on every total and side combined , for a + 42* in one nites work . It was nice to see a boost towards the up-side for a change instead of the nip&tuc plays lately .

I often wonder how one cannot include a very valuable tool in thier capping style , and its one I rarely (if ever) see used to explain thier selections here .

" Men On Base Per 9 Innings "

Mixed in with the distance avg of a pitcher (innings worked) , it gives a very solid outlook as to when those mids and pens we all talk about so much are going to enter the overall picture and and give the game away .

Of course one must add the overall men on base avg to ( Entire-Team ) but I find that giving a projected distance of how far the starter will go ( and if hes control or finesse or flame-thrower ) aids my selections a great deal in both sides and totals .

Phillies + 120 & O 9 ( S. Woo Kim avgs 3.5 Innings then comes a shaky pen and early also , plus 30 men reach )

Marlins - 151 & U 8 ( Both starters go a little deep , and the pens arent horrible either , 24 on base )

Reds + 112 & O 9 ( Both clubs throw early mids here , and pens are fair but 28 or so reaching tends to score )

Brewers - 140 & U 9 ( Rocks will have a mid in by the 5th , and Capuano and the relievers are throwing well )

Houston - 183 & O 9.5 ( Scary part is over 30 will reach in a hurry here and fair-pens will take-over .... have to get it done early )

St. Louis - 126 & U 9 (Both pitchers will make the 6th or better , and under 25 reaching helps )

D-Backs - 122 & U 6.5 ( Good starters go 7th or deeper , plus poor hitting lately doesnt hurt )

L.A. + 124 & O 8.5 ( Frisco will "have" to pen-it early , and I fear it will boost the runs here )

Blue-Jays :eek: - 163 & U 8 ( Zambrano gets wacked early for plenty , then a really eye-opening pen takes over ..... to late )

Red-Sox - 174 & O 10 ( 35 or more reach and Silva hits the showers early , both pens make a early appearence and the Sox are a tad better here )

N.Y.Y - 149 & O 10.5 ( Bedard makes 4 innings if hes lucky today (his avg) and the Yanks are pounding it lately )

Indians + 135 & U 9 ( Lee & Buehrle both go 7 deep and I favor Lees chances )

Texas - 104 & O 10 ( 35 or so make 1st , pens make a entrance by the 6th and like the over )

Tigers + 100 & O 10 ( Pens get 6 to 7 innings or work here (Disaster)

Angels - 144 & U 8.5 ( Redman helps here , he will take it to the 7th or so and keep Oaklands pen " Penned " )

I've always used STATS, and glad to see you cover pitcher avg longevity, versus BULL PEN back up....There is a Madness to your Method

kmann , and anyone that sez stats mean nothing will not go far at this game . The numbers are what we all fight with and are used against us by the man everyday .

It holds water long-term , and of course there are games where they are meaningless when 48 men reach , they bat around the horn twice in one inning , and various other things . But overall they are what we have to deal with day-in&day-out and like it or not you better pay attention to them .

I am fearful that a volcanic reaction is about to blow around here and I have good reason to believe its so . I hope Im wrong and time will tell but the hair on the back of my necks standing-up and its not a good-sign :confused: .

Another prediction that I can afford to lose and hope I do , but ya never know .
