Charlie Sports Freebie
Kansas City at Philadelphia
7:05 pm EDT Fri Jun 18, 2004
The last time the Kansas City Royals visited Philadelphia, it ended with Tug McGraw striking out Willie Wilson to give the Phillies the only World Series title in team history.
Twenty-four year later, the Royals return to Philadelphia for a three-game interleague series at Citizens Bank Park.
Besides spring training games, the teams have not met since the Phillies beat the Royals in six games in the 1980 World Series.
Philadelphia manager Larry Bowa, the starting shortstop on the 1980 Phillies, is hoping for another strong start from Paul Abbott.
Abbott, signed to fill out the rotation until starters Randy Wolf and Vicente Padilla come off the disabled list, made an impressive debut with the Phillies on Sunday. Under 10 runsGLTA

Season record: 130-141 -24.37 UNITS
Lines from Pinnacle current as of 9:40pm Pacific on 06/17/04.
One play for Friday:
DET (ROBERTSON) +143 over NYM (Glavine) - 1 UNIT - 4:10pm Pacific
Robertson has been very consisent, and has not given up more than three earned runs in any of his last seven starts. He has legitimate stuff, and anyone that possesses the strikeout rate he has definitely merits attention. The Detroit bats continue to impress, especially on the road. Glavine has been spectacular this year, but I expect Robertson to match him.
