      More blame to go around

START WITH THE MANAGER!! GOOD GOD!! DAVID WEATHERS TO NAIL DOWN A GAME???????????????/ Art Howe must be brain dead to:

      A) Bring in an 80 year old overweight softball pitcher in a 2-2 game

      B) Get lucky enough to get a run back in the ninth to tie the game AFTER Weathers blows up the game n the 8th to trail 3-2!

      C) THEN.....Bring the rotund scatterballer BACK IN THE NINTH to WALK a batter......give the sacrifice.......NOT WALK the hot hitting Beroa next to set up an out double play ball.....BUT ONLY TO IMMEDIATELY GIVE UP A GAME WINNING SINGLE TO THE AFOREMENTIONED homerun hitting Beroa.......HOWE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR HIS LACK of management skills........and Weathers has NO business being back up in the major leagues!

As I said.......a poor money management move to play this game but I did anyway figuring 3 to 4 runs for Lieters support.....I was dead wrong on this one! GV
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

Any time your closer is Jose Mesa, the odds are not in your favor.

          The guy is just horrible.

          Poor Pirates, lucky Phils!!!

i was watching that game and beyond belief why they left him out there when it was obvious he didnt have anything today................they were up 10-6........pull after its 10-8, even 10-9..........they wait until they fall behind 11-10 and then bring in the next guy for a 1 pitch out..........I swear on everything I own they could give a rats ass sometimes if they win or lose these games

also can someone for the life of me explain why they keep sending out Chacon? time and time again this guy comes out and blows a game and its as if they dont give a fuck

either bring in these slouches for mop up duty till they get straightened out or send them to the minors.......why do they keep bringing them in with a game on the line is beyond me

            PEACE

              Hmmm?

I have a feeling this subject will become a very hot topic in the baseball world sooner than later. For such a long time the baseball gossip has been about juiced balls and steroids. I have a feeling this bull pen issue will become a fenzy, but a frenzy because some controversial things are going on. This is professional sports and no way should teams blow games the way they are. It'd be ok if you see it once or even twice a day, but for so many teams to lose in the manner they are will lead to serious topics. I didn't watch the Pirate game, but even if Mesa does not give up 5 runs but just a few, you still take out any relief pitcher who throws close to 40 pitches to get two outs. If you're team is in a slump and you're playing a very hot team and you have a 10-6 lead, any high school coach would know how to protect the lead with just two innings left. This is just one case of many. I'm not saying anything is happening, but to see this happen so often every day, it smells like fish.

                It's not the Manager - It's the GM's

I watched Cleveland come back and score 6 runs in the 7th and 8th to go into the 9th up by 3 runs. They take out Betancourt who pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning and bring in Jiminez who has an ERA over 7. If Cleveland was only up by 1 or 2 runs they would have lost. And it seems every day we sit there asking ourselves WHY. This time it didn't do any harm thanks to the big lead, but I still sat there asking my TV set, WHY? The guy can't pitch!!

Until recently, I thought it was the stupid managers. But now I'm not so sure that's always the case. I think the General Managers who spend the big bucks to sign guys who don't have the make-up or skills to be a closer, are telling the managers to keep sending these losers in to close out the game. The GM's don't want to admit they made a mistake by using an overpriced closer as a middle reliever or even set up man. A good example is Arthur Rhodes and the A's. Billy Beane, who is in love with himself, still thinks every move he makes is the right one. Signing a set up guy who has blow 27 saves in just 44 save opportunities, over his long career, should be a pretty good warning that this guy is not a closer, and Billy Beane really screwed up this time. Rhodes has already blown 4 or 5 saves and we all know he is not the only overpriced closer who is not capable of being a closer. What I cannot figure out is why the guys who come in and blow the save always seem to be on the team I bet on and not against.

I blame the league itself. Expansion has killed baseball. Way too many average guys playing. Just about every team has 2-3 set-up, closers, 5th starters that do not belong in the league.
