  • Major NBA playoff selection

Everything, other than Laker karma, points to Detroit tonight and with the game at pick 'em there's enormous value. Anyone who watched the first two games of the series is aware that Detroit dominated both contests. The Pistons are deeper and have more weapons. Their heartbreaking loss Tuesday will not set them back emotionally as they realize they are playing better ball and should be motivated by a hyped up crowd.

The lakers are a mess and are surviving only because of a remarkable number of fluky/great plays and the brilliance of Phil Jackson. Malone, Payton, Fisher and George are so useless right now that Jackson was forced to play Luke Walton and Kareem Rush down the stretch Tuesday night. walton and Rush are decent young players but they are not the calibre of players you see on an NBA champion.

Further, Jackson's genius is matched by Larry Brown who has made great use of his bench getting positive contributions from the heretofore unseen Elden Campbell along with Corliss Williamson and even normally pathetic Lindsay Hunter. Also, Brown has rightly keyed on getting the ball to Chauncey Billups because Derek Fisher and Kareem Rush can't guard him. The ONLY way I see Detroit losing tonight is if the Lakers pull another miracle out of their butts. No opinion on the total as I expect Detroit's defense to be sweltering tonight but the number is still very low. Play Detroit. Look for a seven point win.

I don't have to mention this to anyone who has actually been watching the games, but play the Pistons right back in Game 4 but as a much smaller play. Detroit, right now, is the better team and is playing at home. Not as obvious a choice as game three, but a solid bet. Bet now as line will move to -2 1/2, I think.
