NBA Finals Trends
The NBA Finals are here and the following are trends that may be useful in
handicapping the upcoming series with the Lakers and the Pistons.
Pistons:
There are not many positive trends to report on the Pistons in the playoffs as
they have really struggled in certain situations over the past years.
Despite winning 3 of the last 4 on the road and covering the last 4 on the road,
the Pistons are still just 9-26 SU, and 12-23 ATS in their last 35 road playoff
games._ The Pistons have averaged just 82.3 points per game in their last 33
road games, meaning the UNDER is usually a good bet as Detroit is 10-22-1 UNDER
on the road.
The Pistons have also struggled when playing from ahead in the series as they
are 5-14 ATS when leading a series and 3-9 ATS as favs when leading a series._
Other trends: Detroit is 4-9 ATS on the road off a SU road loss, 2-8 ATS off
back to back SU losses, 2-8-1 ATS off 2 exact SU wins, 1-7 ATS off a SU double
digit loss, and 5-11 ATS in the second of 2 road games._
Total trends:_ As noted above, the Pistons play to the UNDER very often and they
are 3-9-1 UNDER in game 2's, and 2-9-1 UNDER off single digit SU loss.
Other notes for Detroit:_ The Pistons are 31-5-1 ATS when winning SU, and 5-38-1
ATS when losing SU._ The Pistons have also been solid on defense at home given
up an average of 82.2 points per game in their last 28 home games.
Lakers:
Los Angeles has been pretty solid as favs winning the game SU over 76% of the
time (74-23 SU)._ The Lakers are also 71-24-3 ATS when winning the game SU._ The
Lakers however have struggled as home favs off a SU loss, as they are 5-11-1 ATS
as home favs off a SU loss, and 3-8 ATS as home favs of 6 or more points off a
SU loss.
Other trends: The Lakers are 11-3 ATS off a SU loss of 14 or more points, 10-5-1
ATS as favs 3 or less points, 7-14 ATS on the road off a double digit SU win,
2-6-1 ATS in game 2 off a SU game 1 win in a 7 game series, and 12-4 ATS in game
5.
Total trends: LA is 11-3 OVER at home off a SU & ATS home win, 4-10 UNDER on the
road off a home OVER, and 0-7 UNDER off 3 straight OVERS._ The Lakers also have
not played 4 straight OVER games since the second round of the 1991 playoffs.
Other notes for Los Angeles:_ The Lakers are 10-51 ATS when losing SU.

CoverBoy -- Could you have possibly invoked a greater curse upon the Cubs and their fans?
"THEY'LL BE JUST FINE""???
"NOT TO WORRY"???
Has any Cub fan now living ever uttered these words? Maybe in the 6th inning of Game 7 vs. the Marlins. Or 1989, 1984, 1969, etc.
Remember this is the Cubs you're talking about -- they've waited almost as long since their last World Series title as the Phillies did for their first. I know whereof I speak.
A word of advice, CoverBoy, if you're a Cubs fan, and I think Steve Bartman will back me up on this -- When it comes to the Cubs: They'll NEVER be fine until the 95-year drought officially comes to an end. And worry. ALWAYS worry.
