  • Hedge or Let it Ride???

I've got a question for any sharp players on the forum, particularly those that know the NHL.

I have a series bet on Tampa Bay for 2 units at -105. Now that they are down 3 games to 2 I'm wondering whether I should hedge my bet by taking Calgary in Game 6 at -120. But if Tampa Bay wins then I'd still need to hedge again in Game 7.

So then I'm thinking maybe I should just hope Tampa Bay wins in Game 6, then I can hedge in Game 7 and be guaranteed a profit.

Or should I maybe just forget about hedging all together and let it ride.

Maybe this is dumb, but you could always bet Calgary and take a shot on whatever you like in the total for same amount.
If TB wins and you hit your total, nothing lost.
If TB wins and you miss the total, well you gave it the old college try.:D
ps I didn't really put all that much thought into this, and if it is just plain stupid, I apologize.

Maybe I'm missing what you're trying to get at, but I don't understand how the total even figures into this.

The idea behind my question is that by hedging properly I know I can either cut my losses or possibly even profit if the series goes to Game 7 (based on assumption that Calgary is a huge underdog).

My question is: If I should hedge, that is, take the opposite side in Games 6 and 7 (if necessary), then what is the best way to do it?

        Mike Schmidt,
I was just thinking that if you want to take a shot and try to figure out the total in same game, under one scenario, you wouldn't lose any money.
If say you bet Calgary and over, and it comes out TB and over, you lose your Calgary bet and win the total, don't lose anything on the game and are still alive for the final game, and then you can do what you want.
Obviously under the other scenarios, you guess the total wrong and TB or for that matter if Calgary wins, you don't make out.
The more I think about it, the more I don't like it-so forget it.
