Six plays for Friday:

CIN (LIDLE) -123 over SF (Rueter) - 1 UNIT - 4:10pm Pacific
Rueter has looked bad all season, so I'll continue to ride the cold streak. Since he can't strike anyone out, he has to hope the balls he puts in play will find its way to the defenders. This year, the balls are finding the holes, which has resulted in disaster for him. Lidle has performed well for the most part. 5 inning bettors may want to take Cincy in this one, as I think the Reds can score while Rueter is in.

UNDER 10.5 HOU (REDDING)/ATL (THOMSON) -115 - 1 UNIT - 4:35pm Pacific
Redding has put up some bad numbers, but Atlanta's bats are kinda weak right now. Against righties, they are managing only a .324 OBP. I think Jimy Williams will have a quick hook if it looks like Redding doesn't have it today, and I think 10.5 runs is a big enough cushion if he gives up some early runs. Although Thomson has been hit hard by the Houston lineup, the sample size is extremely small. He doesn't give up many HRs, which is always a concern when facing Houston.

SD (PEAVY) +104 over Fla (Pavano) -111 - 1 UNIT - 4:35pm Pacific
Peavy still has his ERA under 2.00, and it looks like it can continue aganist the Florida lineup that has a weak .321 OBP against righties. Pavano's dominance and control rates are not very good, which should give the Padres an opportunity to score. I expect a pitcher's duel, but Peavy won't need much to pitch them to a win.

UNDER 7.5 SD (PEAVY)/FLA (PAVANO) -115 - 1 UNIT - 4:35pm Pacific
Both lineups have weak OBPs, neither pitcher gives up HRs, and they're in a pitcher's park, which is usually a good recipe for a low scoring game.

KC (AFFELDT) +183 over Bos (Wakefield) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
The Boston offense has put up some bad numbers against lefties, which includes a .241 BA and .323 OBP. Affeldt still hasn't put it together, but has the talent to pitch a great game whenevr he takes the mound. I'm hoping that the Boston offense will continue their poor hitting against lefties, and I think this line provides pretty good value.

UNDER 8 MIN(SANTANA)/OAK (REDMAN) +107 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Santana has now pitched three strong games in a row, so I'm convinced that he's fully back from his injury. Over that span, he has a 3.18 ERA and 20 Ks. Redman has been solid, and Minnesota has performed much worse against lefties than against righties. Both starters are flyball pitchers, and will be helped significantly by the ballpark.

The Pistons were my highest rated Best Bet of the playoffs in their easy 78-56 game 1 win, but that victory sets up the Nets in a decent 53-23-2 ATS playoff bounce-back situation and a 42-21-1 ATS game 2 situation. However, my ratings favor the Pistons by 8 points in this game and the situation favoring the Nets is worth just over 3 points. So, the line value favoring Detroit and the situation favoring the Nets balance each other out and I’m left with Detroit by 5 points as my best prediction for this game.
