        WinOnBaseball.com - Thursday Report - 05/05/04

Welcome to our first annual service free trial!

-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updated daily on the "Records" page of our website.

-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Friday, May 6th.

        Season record: 57-64 -15.41 UNITS

All lines from Pinnacle and current as of 05/04/04 at 11:52pm Pacific

        Five plays for Thursday:

        UNDER 9 STL (SUPPAN)/PHI (WOLF) -114 - 1 UNIT - 10:05am Pacific
Wolf has pitched 21 straight scoreless innings, and has fared well against the Cardinals lineup. Suppan has been very sharp since the beginning of spring training, and has had only one bad start. The Philly pen has been good this year, while St. Louis' has not. However, Suppan can usually get deeper into games, and should be able to put in around 7 solid innings.

        FLA (WILLIS) -138 over LA (Ishii) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Ishii has pitched well as of late, but his control rate is bad, so he'll still put runners on. Florida can wreak havoc with runners on base, and LA's stolen base defense is bad, as opponents have been successful in over 71% of their attempts. Willis got bombed in his last start, which was probably just an aberration. LA's hitting against lefties is very bad, with a .315 OBP and .319 SLG.

        UNDER 9 COL (ELARTON)/MON (HERNANDEZ) -104 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Yes, Elarton is bad, but Montreal's offense is putting up some of the ugliest batting numbers in a long time. Hernandez should hold his own against Colorado, and Montreal's inept offense should make Elarton look decent. Moreover, Montreal's bullpen has been putting up some excellent numbers, and Colorado's offense struggles on the road. ** Earlier I mentioned that I would consider blindly betting against Colorado in their first three games of a road trip. This is their third game, but I can't bring myself to lay the number on a team whose offense is looking like one of the worst ever.

        SF (SCHMIDT) -107 over NYM (Leiter) - 1 UNIT - 4:10pm Pacific
Schmidt's velocity looks to be back, as he's struck out 15 in his last two starts, and has looked good in three of his four starts since coming off the DL. New York's offense against righties, with a .296 OBP and .365 SLG. They should have a tough time against a top pitcher in a pitcher's park. Leiter continues to be all over the place at times, which has resulted in him averaging 18 pitches an inning. At that rate, he'll put in six innings tops, at which point the struggling bullpen will come in. Bonds' status is unknown at this time, but I will take it even if he sits.

        SEA (GARCIA) -149 over Min (Radke) - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
The Seattle lineup has really hit Radke hard, while Garcia has put up some very good numbers, even though he doesn't have a win to show for it. Radke will be helped by Safeco, but I really like the matchup of Seattle's offense versus Radke.
