  • Philly Flyer Wager

Before the season started I made a pretty decent sized wager on the Flyers to win the Cup taking 12 - 1 odds . While I still like them to win it all I can hedge next the series and play on Tampa Bay. I'm thinking of structuring it like this:

    Initial Future Flyer Wager $ 500 ( +12-1 ) to win $6000

    TB Wager $ 1000 ( - 165 ) to win $ 1000 or lose $ 1,650

Flyers win series vs. TB: -$1650 but still have $500 to win $6,000 in final series.

    Flyers lose TB series: +1000 - 500 ( futures bet ) Net +500 and done .

If Philly reaches finals I can maneuver on the other side to guarantee a $ 2000 pay day +/- depending on the odds . or I can sit pat and go for +6000 - 1650 + 4,350. The down side with that is -1650 - 500 = -2,150 if Philly loses.

I can always do nothing at all and risk 500 to net 6000.

My feeling is that a payday should be locked in and guaranteed and I'm leaning that way. I like nibbling away at books rather than looking for a big score.

Any opinions on this ? I'd appreciate as much input as possible .

    Thanks, -Neil

If it was me. I would put the 1,650 on Tampa Bay. That way you have a nice winner either way.

I think Philly has a nice shot at winning the series. But I really like Tampa Bay and their well rested also.

      Coverboy,

I would definately hedge, no question about it. It's a bet you want to lose, but, coming away with nothing would really hurt

Thanks Homer .... Your input is both reasonable and practical . I have a guaranteed winner here and it's wise to keep the cash register ringing.

        I just thought of something LOL ... I'm on a quiz show and I've won $2,000 I can keep the $$$ .. OR ... Behind 1 of the doors is $6000 ... behind another door is a debt of $ 500 .

first off future wagers are a bad bet, most of the time you make just as much money parlaying from series to series, and you can get out when you want, and you dont have your money tied up for 8 months,as for me,i would not hedge,Phil is the same team you bet in Oct.,you like the bet then, why throw possible losers in your wager now,but i dont what kind of bankroll you are dealing with and what you looking to get out of it,but good luck whatever you chose
