I think they are looking at the final scores of the last four games in Detroit and especially last years 2 games opening the series. Detroit has Wallace now. NJ has no Motumbo or Mourning. Wallace is regarded for his defense but is also a capable scorer. Detroit has had a problem of finding people to initiate things. He definitely won't mind taking on that role if he has to. Don't know about his ankle though. NJ has had a few more days off thanks to their sweep of NY. NJ is 2/10 O/U in games avenging a home loss this year. Ton of other trends on the Under. I would be wary of playing it as it has lost much value from the opening line. These totals have been fairly right on in the games with the outcome being decided on the play over the last couple minutes in a game. I'm always nervous when seeing a drop like this because Vegas set the original line for a reason. They have forgotten more than I'll know.

        FYI

        off the net...

The teams split the season series, although the Pistons held New Jersey to 71 points in their last meeting. However, the Nets were without Kidd and forward Kenyon Martin, who both sat out with injuries.

A lot of services have the UNDER as a free play.

I like the UNDER but am sticking to the side.

            Just thinking aloud here...

Detroit has one one game Over the last seven with NJ. I'm not counting the last time they played. In that game, the 1st matchup between these two this year, Detroit allowed NJ to shoot just over 43% shooting. That is above their season average at home. But Detroit scored 98 and won. Maybe with Wallace now they run a bit more here and not try to go balls out defensively as it seems that hasn't worked to this point against NJ. I know this is a stretch but it's what I would do. I most likely will just wait for the final in this one and take it from there.

Can't figure why Detroit has opened at minus 5 in this one, and the line moves up:confused:

              FYI

              off the net...

              the plot thickens

Chauncey Billups will be getting his second shot at Kidd in the playoffs and figures to be a difficult matchup. Billups was victimized by Kidd when Kidd hit the game-winner at the end of Game 1 of the conference finals last spring. But he was also playing that series on a badly sprained ankle. This time, Billups is healthy and should be able to present problems for Kidd at both ends.

"Chauncey's ability to drive is going to make it tough on Jason, especially if his knee starts acting up," the scout said. "Chauncey's got great explosion and he's a tough cover."

The longer the series goes, the more Kidd's knee injury will likely be a factor. He started to slow down in Game 4 against the Knicks, when he had problems against a slower Frank Williams. With Kidd already suffering a knee cartilage injury, it's the kind of situation that will worsen over time and with extended play.

Most of this is off the ESPN site

"This is definitely a different team," said Ben Wallace, thinking about last year's team that never reached 90 points in any of its four playoff losses to Jersey. "Right now, given the chance we can run with them, we can slow it down and play in the half court."

Sounds like something I posted earlier. Me and Ben, great minds think a like
