Not that I know the 1st or 2nd thing about the ponies...

But I heard from a capper from one of our local tracks that most of the speed took outside posts to avoid the "demolishing derby" aspect that usually occurs in these 20 horse fields. Now with the possible off track conditions, this may definitely work to their disadvantage. Lion Heart has the inside posts though and may be the strongest play if they are in the muck.

More importantly...

I was also at the zoo today.

i don't know anything about wagering on horrses. if i have 4 horses that i would like to play, how would you recommend playing them to get the most value.

Depends on the odds of the horses you like if they are all longshots bet them all to win and box them in a ex and tri.
If you have the favorites i would pick the 2 i like the most bet them to win and key them in the ex and tri
