50,000* BASEBALL BAD LINE LOCK
Your winners today are on:
1. 50,000* Oakland
2. 25,000* Philadelphia
3. 25,000* Florida
1. To lay this much money to Southpaw Barry Zito is just stupid. Kevin Brown is great no doubt but nobody is good enough to give money like this to Zito, especially from a Yankee team which has not exactly been playing great ball.
Both Brown and Zito will more than likely do their thing and whoever can get that one break should win the game. In other words this is a 50-50 proposition in which we are getting much better than 50-50 odds. I'll take that any day of the week.
2. Normally I do not base too much on the pitchers but Kevin Millwood is just way too much better than Chris Carpenter for this game to be near a pick. Carpenter has pitched well at times, ie his last outing at Milwaukee but he is still not nearly as consistent as Millwood who has now been around the block awhile.
Take the team with the much better starter, clearly the better bullpen and a lineup that may not be as dominant as the Cardinals but with Jim Thome they are a team that can certainly pound away themselves.
St. Louis has struggled thus far at Busch, no reason why this won't continue today.
3. Florida is clearly the better team in this matchup. San Francisco is terrible plain and simply put. Barry Bonds is unreal but they have absolutely nothing else. He will be walked every time by Brad Penny and nobody else in that lineup is even mediocre. The league has already found this out and has been pretty much doing this and that's why the Giants have won something like 4 games over the past 3 1/2 weeks.
Brad Penny is the better pitcher than Jerome Williams and the Marlins lineup and bullpen blows away the Giants. This is the world champion getting absolutely no respect. Sure they lost Pudge but they pretty much have not missed a beat yet this year. Juan Pierre, Luis Castillo, Mike Lowell, Miguel Cabrera, etc blow away whatever the Giants have.
The bullpens also favor the Fish as the Giants traded away Joe Nathan last year, lost Tim Worrell and still do not have Robb Nen. Matt Herges is not exactly the answer. Conversely Florida's Armando Benites has been great.
What a great deal here, better everything!
200,000* NBA LOCK PART 7
Your winner here is on the Mavericks
Dallas is too good to go down without a fight. Sure they are not happy campers to have dropped a rare one at home but this team will respond like a champion not like team that has quit. They have a coach in Don Nelson who has them believing and will not let them hang their heads.
The Mavs will weather the storm early at the rowdy Arco Arena and bomb away from the outside with Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki. This team is a very professional team and will respond in a positive way.
