Season record: 42-43 -6.03 UNITS
Six plays for Wednesday:
UNDER 7.5 MON (VARGAS)/SD (EATON) -111 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Another starting matchup of flyball pitchers. Vargas is a pretty extreme one, and Eaton gives up enough flyballs to definitely put him in that category. Same analysis as last night: Petco is good to flyballers and Montreal can’t score. Add in the fact that Eaton’s a stud, and this one should be safe. Vargas got rocked in his last start, but he attributed it to a flaw in his mechanics. He claimed to have recognized it after reviewing video of the game, and says it’s been corrected.
CLE (DAVIS) +141 over CHW (Schoeneweis) - 1 UNIT - 11:05am Pacific
Schoeneweis has posted a great ERA (2.79) and WHIP (1.29), but his skill set is not good. He will not keep this up, and I think this is pretty decent value. His command and dominance rates are way down from last year, and they’re actually the worst of his career. His ridiculous strand rate is also an indicator of luck. Davis got rocked by Detroit in his last start, but it was revealed that he was pitching with strep throat. Cleveland has trouble with lefties, but I’ll take them here and hope that Schoeneweis will get exposed.
OVER 9.5 SEA (MOYER)/BAL (AINSWORTH) -110 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Both pitchers have been struggling. Moyer has pitched one good game this year. In the others, he had control problems, and since his game is based on control, that’s not a good thing. Ainsworth shows promise, but hasn’t really done anything yet. I think both starters will give up their fair share in this one.
OVER 8.5 ANA (COLON)/DET (MAROTH) -101 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Colon has not pitched like the staff ace, giving up 5 HRs in his last two starts. He did not fare well in limited action against Detroit last year. In almost 40 IP at Comerica Park, he has not posted good numbers, probably because he’s a flyball pitcher and there’s lots of room for balls to drop in that stadium. The Angel lineup is scary, and they should have no problem scoring off of Maroth. Not that it mattered yesterday, but it’s supposed to be about twenty degrees warmer today, which should help with the run scoring.
TOR (MILLER) +118 over Min (Lohse) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
Lohse has an ugly ERA (7.89) and an uglier WHIP (1.98), and he’ll face a surging Toronto offense. His BB/K ratio is a poor 12/13, and opponents are hitting .326 off him. Righties are hitting .395. Miller has pretty good stuff, and should have good success the first couple of times through the order.
TEX (ROGERS) +102 over KC (Gobble) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
Rogers is better suited to pitch at Kauffman than Gobble. Both lineups are putting up some impressive slugging % numbers, but I think the Texas lineup will present more problems for Gobble.
PLEASE NOTE: All wagers are recommended for a "base" unit. Thus a side for 1 UNIT at -110 should be considered risking 1.10 UNITS to win 1.00 UNITS, while a team at +110 should be considered risking 1.00 UNITS to win 1.10 UNITS.

MLB BASEBALL
Philadelphia @ St Louis
Pick: OVER 9.5
Time: 8:10 PM EST
Today the Vegas Sports Insiders look for the Phillies and Cardinals to score over 9.5 runs, when they matchup tonight in St Louis.
Pat Burrell appears to have put his awful 2003 season completely behind him.
Burrell will look to continue his strong start when the Philadelphia Phillies meet the St. Louis Cardinals in the middle game of their series at Busch Stadium.
After a breakout 2002 season in which he batted .282 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs, Burrell slumped to a .209 average with 21 homers and 64 RBIs last year.
He spent the offseason working on his swing, and the results have been evident. Burrell, who is hitting .339 with two homers and 14 RBIs, was 4-for-4 with three RBIs Tuesday to lead the Phillies to a 7-3 win in the series opener.
The Cardinals, who returned to Busch Stadium after going 4-2 on a six-game road trip, continued their struggles at home. St. Louis has lost the opener of all three of its homestands this season and has been outscored 67-33 in its eight home losses.Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh? Oh, it looks good on you though.

MLB BASEBALL
Toronto @ Minnesota
Pick: Toronto +115
Time: 8:10 PM EST
Today the National Sports Advisors look for the Blue Jays to win as +115 underdogs, when they matchup with the Twins in Minnesota tonight.
Justin Miller looks to make a solid season debut after missing most of last year when he starts for the Toronto Blue Jays in the finale of a three-game series at the Minnesota Twins.
The 27-year-old right-hander moves into the fifth spot in the Toronto rotation, replacing Josh Towers, who struggled in his first two outings this season. Towers allowed 10 runs -- seven earned -- on 16 hits over 8 2-3 innings in two starts this season.
Miller was scheduled to be the Blue Jays' fifth starter last year but suffered a shoulder injury in spring training and missed most of the season after having surgery.
His performance at Tripple-A Syracuse, where he went 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA, convinced Toronto manager Carlos Tosca to purchase his contract.
Miller takes on the formidable Minnesota offense, who are tied for third in the league with 118 runs.
Minnesota came back from a three-run deficit in the eighth inning for a 7-4 victory over Toronto on Tuesday, snapping the Blue Jays' three-game winning streak overall and their four-game winning streak at the Metrodome.
Minnesota has rallied for 10 of its 13 wins this season, and improved to 9-6 when opponents score first.Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh? Oh, it looks good on you though.

DR BOB
Wednesday NBA Analysis
Houston (+7) 88 L.A. LAKERS 93
The Lakers needed overtime to win game 4 at Houston and they are now just 6-21 ATS in their last 27 games with all 4 of their superstars on the floor. The Lakers are also only 20-37-1 ATS this season in games following a victory (although a not so bad 13-17-1 ATS as a home favorite) and the Lakers have won easily in only 1 of the 4 games in this series. My ratings use games for the Lakers only with all 4 stars on the floor and those ratings favor the Lakers by 7 points, which is the current line. Los Angeles is better with Karl Malone on the floor, but they've played at a level that is a few points lower since Malone’s return in mid-March, so I’d prefer to lean slightly with the Rockets in this game.
