  • World Cup of Baseball:

MLB reached an agreement w/ their player's union on the drug testing issue. That somehow opens the door for a planned World Cup of Baseball in 2005:

I just hope it's not like the Olympics where the foreign-born players return "home" to play for their country of orgin. This happens in both Olympic basketball and hockey.

The USA baseball team would really be in big trouble because the majority of Major league baseball players were not born in the USA. The majority of MLB players were born in foreign Latino countries. Also, there are now more foreign-born Japanese and Korean players in MLB than ever before.
So who would be left to play for the USA??..........how about college players if they are eligible?? (that probably won't happen though since MLB is really the one that is pushing for this World Cup to happen).

    Just some "food for thought".
Anyway, I hope everyone has a nice, winning day!!

    Sincerely,
    Bennojd

p.s.> My vote is to let the Montreal Expos make their permanent home in Puerto Rico. Isn't that a perfect fit for MLB and the foreign-born, Spanish speaking Latinos that make up the majority of its players??
Also I think that MLB (which currently stands for Major League Baseball) should be changed to: Major Latino Baseball......(lol). :D

IMO The olympics don't have the same meaning anymore. Allowing pro basketball and hockey players has reduced the interest in those sports in the olympics. The dream team was a novelty. Does anyone care anymore?
