My vote is Hershel Walker AFTER his trade to the Vikings!!!!
For a decade after the trade the other team was affectionately called the Dallas Vikings!! For that is as close to a super bowl as Minnesota ever got!! Gv
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!
You're soooo right .. Ryan Leaf by a mile .... So what does SD do today? They maneuver themselves into Philip Rivers ... Unless I really miss my guess Rivers will be the 2nd biggest NFL QB bust . He may have been a big shot at NC State but he has NO GAME for the Pros - none whatsoever .
little known fact about Gooden , in high school (Hillsbough High) in Tampa Fla. as a senior he tossed 38 hitless innings in a row in route to 3 no-hitters in a row (plus 6 shut-outs) . A feat that will be very hard to duplicate at any level in sports .
I disagree with Dwight Gooden as he was really something else at one time. Most of the others mentioned never were anything in the Pro's. If you think that way about Gooden then you might as well add Daryl Strawberry to the list.
Todd Marinovich. Programmed by his father, Marv, to be a football player, his decision to play at USC was preordained. He led USC to the Rose Bowl his Freshman year, but by his Sophmore year the pressure got to him and he was arrested on drug charges and suspended from the team twice. The next year he left USC and entered the 1991 draft. He was drafted in the first round by the Raiders and signed a 3 year 2.7 million dollar contract. That was a big contract back them. He became the starting QB for the Raiders his rookie year, but his drug problems ended his NFL career the next season
