For what its worth – Based upon the suggestion of a friend that has been following this for the last few years I have been betting the –1 ½ goal LINE for favorites very successfully for the NHL playoff. The large odds that you receive more than offset the times the favorite would have won by only 1 goal combined with the devastating odd you pay when the favorite loses.
I cannot find a detail listing historically to provide as documentation but it has been extremely profitable so far this year.

The Celtics Hope That Home Cookin' Can Help Take Game 3
Tonight 7:00PM EST Pacers vs Celtics (Pacers lead the series 2-0) TV: ESPN
Can you say...Oops upside ya head? The Pacers can as that's the rout they took and delivered to the Celtics in the first two games in what was a spanking in both! The Pacers flexed their muscles showing why they're the class of the field in the East winning the first two matchups by a combined margin of 19 points. Scoring came easy for the Pacers as they put up 104 points in Game 1 and 103 in Game 2 pushing both contest over the total while sending the Indiana investors to the ticket window in both.
Boston hopes to take the all important Game 3 tonight in the FleetCenter giving them hopes of making this a competitive series. But to do so they must find the answers to produce stronger front court play already being at a disadvantage in size, and must play much stronger in the paint. Indiana in the series thus far has out rebounded Boston 49-38 and outscored them in the paint 50-30. In the two games the Pacers dominated the Celtics down low and now claim to a 98-58 scoring advantage in the paint. Despite being over matched, the Celtics won't go down without swinging tonight and they'll be playing with a little fire in their eyes looking to get redemption as they weren't all that happy as they felt the Pacers ran the score up on them in Game 2. On top of the Celtics getting throddle in the second game by the score of 103-90, the Pacers added a little insult to injury with the game well in hand with several flashy dunks, a long with some made bombs from beyond the arc which didn't bode well with the Celtics to say the least!
If Boston can't get the win SU tonight as the puppy, you can all but close the books on this series. But with the revenge factor in play tonight and behind the home crowd, the Celtics should be able to make this game a little closer putting up more points than in the first two played in Indiana. I look for the scoreboard to continue lighting up and the over once again prevailing. The Pacers perform well when coming off two day's rest making for a season ATS record of 15-4 when in this scenario, so it's safe to say they'll do their part offensively in putting this game over as the before mentioned ATS mark was strongly constructed off of big offensive numbers. In the last seven overall played by Indiana the over has cashed in six of these seven games. Boston in their last fifteen games played overall have also become accustom to watching the total cash as it's done in eleven times over this span, and when these two clubs hoop it up high scores are pretty much the norm with seven of the last ten meetings played between the two have gone over the total. Play over the total in the contest and you'll be well on your way to the ticket window!

Houston We Have A Problem! And It's Wearing Purple And Gold
Tonight 9:30PM EST Lakers vs Rockets (Lakers lead the series 2-0) TV: ESPN
Despite the less than stellar play from the Lakers of late prompted from an injury riddle club, the Rockets have not been able to take advantage of poor play from LA's superstars Shaq and Kobe and now find themselves in a must win game this evening. Houston loss a heartbreaker Saturday in Game 1 in LA by the score of 72-71 in what could arguably have been one of the ugliest playoff games ever. There were more points scored in Sunday's Mavs vs Kings game four minutes deep in the third quarter than in the entire Game 1 of the Rockets-Lakers series. Monday the Purple and Gold bounced back to get the win SU and ATS, but it wasn't due to the Laker's big man, as Shaq only scored 7 points in Game 2. This was the first time in eight games the Lakers were able to grab the cash.
Tonight the Lakers will be looking to accomplish back-to-back ****** as they enter tonight's game as the small favorite. If the Rockets are to prevent this and pick up the win tonight they better solve their problems in a hurry of not being able to beat a team that's playing no where near their potential, or their first trip to postseason play in five years will be short lived. Considering Phil Jackson has coached multiple teams that win the first two matchups of a playoff series he's built a 20-8 SU record in Game 3, it's an understatement to say the Rockets better come ready to play balls out to get the win tonight.
The Rockets will be looking to feast off the home crowd, but when at home over their last six games the crowd has been of no help when it comes to taking the cash as the Rockets ATS record over their last six played on their floor is a dismal 1-5. But before jumping on the Purple and Gold tonight, take a close look at these numbers. LA is 1-5 in their last six road games, they are a horrid 5-15 ATS in their last twenty played overall, and the Lakers are just 6-17 ATS in their last 23 road games against teams with a .500 record or better. Tonight the sour play of the Lakers catches up with them and Houston will be able to get the win and take the cash. Play the Houston Rockets this evening and cash!

Taking a quick look at the other NBA playoff series, over in the East the Nets are on cruise control and have grabbed a 3-0 series lead by downing the Celtics last night in a 81-78 victory. The brooms are out in NJ as the Nets can get the sweep Sunday which starts at 7:00PM EST to end this best of seven series. Wednesday The Pistons were knocked back down to earth as the home double-digit favorites in Game 2 being handed a loss SU by the Bucks, and now as well they've lost home-court advantage as the series tied at 1-1 heads to Milwaukee tomorrow for a 3:30PM EST tip. The Miami heat remain ablaze as they own a 2-0 series lead, and look to stay ignited in Game 3 to be played tomorrow in NO starting at 1:00PM EST.
Turning to the West, last night the defending champion Spurs were able to spoil the Grizzlies first ever home playoff game with a 95-93 win taking a commanding 3-0 series lead all but putting a fork in Memphis. Spur's fans will also be reaching for their brooms as the sweep could be completed Sunday tipping off at 9:30PM EST. The T'Wolves have things well under control over the Nuggets and rookie sensation Carmelo Anthony with a 2-0 series lead, and look to continue to display their dominance in Denver tomorrow starting at 9:30PM EST. From the boat load of missed shots to the wars under the bucket, the Kings had to get ugly to get the victory over the Mavs in Game 2, taking a 2-0 series lead but now ride into Dallas for a shootout to begin tomorrow at 7:00PM EST.

Round Two Of The Red Sox Rivalry With The Bronx Bombers
Tonight 7:00PM EST Red Sox (9-6 +$0.10) vs Yankees (8-8 -$5.75)
This evening the Red Sox will be making their first appearance back in the Bronx since they blew a three-run lead in the eighth inning of Game 7 of the ALCS on Oct. 16, '03. Boston will be looking to atone for the devastating loss hushing the hostile Yankee faithful tonight sending Derek Lowe to the mound who brings to the hill a 1-1 record with a high 9.35 ERA. The Red Sox have lost Lowe's last three starts when facing the Yanks, and his career numbers vs NY aren't want the Boston backers want to look at. Lowe's career win/loss mark against the Yankees stands at 6-8, throwing 83.2 innings to the Bronx Bombers while giving up 104 hits, 54 ER, giving up10 long balls, allowing 33 BB, and owns a less than impressive ERA of 5.81.
This is a hurler the Yanks can definately touch up tonight to get the win as the luke warm favorites in this Game 1 of a 3 Game series. Play the Yankees and enjoy the win!

Betting Tip Of The Day
Use Your Head!
Take your time before you place your bet. Do not be impulsive jumping on the first thing you see because it's the first game on the day's card or because it's coming on TV. Prep early in the day by reading injurie reports, statistics, trends, etc. If you have a hunch, it very well may end up cashing. But your hunch should always be checked by reading up on everything you can find on the game involved. Possibly your team may have a key player out due to injury, maybe tradition is going against you, or the trends favor the other side heavily. All of this could be irelevant, but you should check and think about your investment. You should also follow the movements of the odds on the game through out the day to see what side the money's going. Since you do not need to go to local bookmaker's and have the internet, spend as much time as you can visiting the many sites that provide solid info.
