  • Food For Thought on Lakers Games

    Does this sound suspicious?
Lakers with one of best records in regular season have the second WORST Ats record at 32-50.
Its funny- all the other teams with very good straight up records have at least respectable ats records.
Now do you all know why I don't bet on or against the Lakers for that matter(they don't cover when they are expected to and vice versa)?
I am not surprised either that more of their games have gone under than over.
Bookies thus love it when the average client plays Lakers and over.
I have witnessed so much crap that goes on usually late in their games which has resulted in above stats that it is not funny.
The moral of story is be careful in playoffs when betting on or against these guys and same for totals as it might get worse.

    suspicious???

I don't find it suspicious at all. IMO it's the Vegas line makers inflating the line each night because they are the NBA version of 'Americas' team.

Frank-Vegas may inflate the line, but that doesn't fully account for their unusually poor ATS in view of their very good straight up record.
High line posted by Vegas also makes it easier perhaps for some Laker players to "play" with the line when they so desire especially late in game when actual outcome of contest is no longer in doubt. jmho

        Lakers

I hate to bet on the Lakers but I have to say that they should cover tomorrow the regular season is one thing but once they get past it they become another team. They should beat Houston by double digits and it should not be close until perhaps the 4th period. Look for Kobe to score between 35 to 45 points and put the Lakers up 1-0.

CB40-I hope you are right for your sake.
However, in last few years Lakers have done a lot of funny things in the playoffs;it was either last year or year before when there were about 4 or 5 games in a row where Lakers won but missed covering by a point or two.
Maybe this year will be different.
Just watch carefully late in games if actual outcome is decided to see if you can spot suspicous things which impacts if they cover or not and same for over/ under.
          Good luck.

            SAVAGE

            Speaking of the Fakers!

CAN ANYONE BELIEVE they have been installed as ONLY a +125 to win it all! How can one get a prop against that one!! THIS SHOWS HOW MUCH PUBLIC MONEY and VEGAS support (or lack of) reflects in the playoffs!! YIKES!! gv

                Sorry

Savage but I sure have not......I do think some good odds to bet on would be with the Wolves, Pacers, Spurs, Pistons (small favs but a decent chance......maybe a long shot with the Nets out east and Kings out West.....and watch the Mavs and Kings as the most fun....JMHO!! Gv

                  Lakers Futures, etc.

The Lakers at only +100 or +125 is the most preposterous overweighting of a favorite I have ever seen at the post-season open for any sport. If anyone knows of an offshore that allows you to lay those odds, even at a bump of -155, I'd love to take it. No way does this team win it all. They're too screwed up.

Olympic Sports has a prop where you can pick the winners of both conferences at the same time. They are paying +950 on a Minnesota-Indiana matchup. That's nearly ten to one for picking the top seeds in both conferences! Home court advantage in the NBA playoffs is huge. To get this kind of price is amazing (Minnesota vs. Detroit is almost as high).

The only thing the Lakers have going is home court in the first two rounds and likely playing Minnesota with its choking history in the conf final. But this isn't the Minnesota team of the past. Sam Cassell is one of the great post-season players in recent history and Sprewell is a big clutch player as well. Garnett's on a mission. The only weakness is their knob coach, Saunders. In any event, going against the Lakers on a future bet is almost like stealing.

Goldvike-I don't understand your reference to small favorites in your last post, as teams mentioned all get great odds if you take any one of them to win it all.

poor ats record because the lakers aren't that good and the lines are inflated. the lakers are simply not capable of scoring a lot of points on a consistent basis. they have a slooow set up offense (4 of their starters are either old, slow, weigh 300 pounds, or all of the above) and they have little defensive intensity (for much of the same reasons) to get any type of quick pace. of late the intensity of the game actually picks up when subs devean george and fisher are in the game because they can actually run and play pressure d.
rockets should give them a tough series because they match up well imo especially with yao versus shaq.

unless the lakers somehow turn back the clock in the playoffs, no way can they beat the spurs, pistons, kings, and probably not the pacers, twolves, or even mavs in a series.

what's crazy is that the lakers are favored to win it all??? if i had a lot of cash they i could let sit for a few weeks, i'd definitely lay only -190 that the lakers don't win the title. that's the bet of the year IMO.

                          Ho hum-what else is new?
Just as in regular season, Lakers win but don't cover and game stays under.

                              Good Call

Savage 1 you called it on the Lakers my picks were awful today down 5 units but i hope that the Bad Boys in are back and the Pistons play well tomorrow thats where I'm going but the way I have called them as late I just think that my luck should turn. Once again I prove to myself why I don't bet on the Lakers they are unreal they score 9 points in the third give me a break!!
