  • Wayne I have a question

I know it was a few days ago but did you see the Red Sox/Toronto game on Sunday? The Sox were down 4-2 and twice during the 8th and 9th innings the Sox had a runner on second with no one out and they didn't sacrafice to get the runner to third with less than 2 outs (in the 8th the had the 1st two runners on 1st and 2nd and they hit away). The Sox announcers didn't really seem fazed by it. I know they won in extra innings but is this Francona's way of letting them play? I know he's a players manager and maybe he feels he's giving his big hitters a chance to win the game but I thought it was weird.

It is actually the way Boston has ALWAYS played. They always play for the hit and very rarely sacrafice runners, especially in Fenway. The team has always been built on power and batting average to suit the ballpark and anytime i have ever seen them try to move a runner over they screw it up. That's also why they are always in the bottom of baseball in stolen bases........ They just have never had speed. Power and average at Fenway, they will wait all day for the big hit before they sacrafice or run!

    hope it helps.

      Thanks,
I was flipping out because I had them with Schilling at -220 to complete a nice parlay. They won in extra innings but I swear Francona had the BlueJays:D :D :D
